Or at least something different that'd put a unique spin on the mythos.

...

Something like that. I think you get what I'm saying.

Stories which don't take place in the present day.

Futuristic might be hard to pull off, but there's lots of potential for a Slendy story taking place in the past. If you want to keep the blog format, it can be set up as someone looking through the written log of an ancestor they had/something they found at the library. I know we've had blogs tell stories about Slendy in the past, but they've always been side stories. I'm suggesting having the past events be the main part of the story, instead of the current ones.
For example, taking TT's "My Grandfather Karl" entry, and expanding that anecdote into an entire story.
Though now that I bring up that entry, I'm beginning to wonder why I don't make it myself.... There's so much potential for a Slendy story using Nazi Super Occultism (TM), I'm a WWII history buff, and I've got the Waffen SS ancestry to provide legitimacy to the "looking through ancestors old stuff" concept....

Huh. Good job, Malus. I believe you may had indirectly given me a story idea.

You may or may not remember, Omega, but I once had a very similar idea to this. My plan was, though, for present day events to gradually become more important than what happened in the past as old horrors came back to haunt the new generation.

I vaguely recall that. What I was thinking was to just use the present day as a framing device, with the main story being the past one. Although having the horror come to the present also presents some fun opportunities.

It does, but my main problem with it was trying to figure out when to start the shift and how to incorporate it. Though, thinking about it now, one potentially good ending for a story centered on past events could hint at strange goings ons in the present without actually telling of them.

My main issue with using the present as a frame (as it would be in the beginning) was the triviality of it all compared to what happened in the past. But without incorporating those bits, the narrator is hard to characterize.

I'd like to see you take a shot at it though.

Man, I need to update that.

This is me immediately taking back what I said about sci-fi Slendy being hard to pull off.
And yes, you really should update it. You've done a rather good job of hooking me in just a few posts.

Sci-fi Slendy? Hmm... That might be something I'll look into after I'm finished with Blank Space.

Or even another genre, like a western.

...

Personally, I think a western horror story with Slendy in it would be pretty cool.

There was a discussion about a Slender Man western a while ago.
Gradually it evolved into a Slender Man steampunk western.
Sadly it didn't take off, because it would have been the Best. Story. Ever.

Strangely... When I think of a Slender Man western, I'm reminded of this Courage the Cowardly Dog episode where this thing that looked like Slendy (except he had a face) kept going "RETURN THE SLAAAAB, OR SUFFER MY CURSE!"

*sigh*

Yeah, I think that was his name.

I miss all of the old Cartoon Network shows. They were great.

Nowadays, cartoons suck.

... Now that I watch that episode again, the guy looks nothing like Slender Man.

Damn. Sad

Thank you. I'm really trying for something different.

And here's a new (long) update.
