| I've heard of this stuff before...not sure where, but it involved an attempt to use QR and wikipedia to make something like a real Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Earth, for travelers and tourists and stuff. I know that nowadays most smartphones have apps on the market that'll let you read these things, and I've actually seen it used in marketing before (McDonald's, I think, and a couple movies that had viral ads but, sadly, never quite crossed into ARG territory). Never heard of it in an ARG, though it sure sounds like it'd be handy, since you can use them to encode either text or links, or even strings of numbers for a little puzzle-within-a-puzzle. And it's common enough that someone in your hypothetical game's player pool would recognize what it is and be able to decode it. [/ramble] | |
