Slender Man Mythos Website
I've been working on a couple side projects lately. A few of you, if you're from the creators, may have already seen this and I think I might have posted it in Slender Skype at some point, but I can't recall for sure.
About a month ago, I was hired to do some tech-support work for a friend of my father. It was a simple job to just get a website she had made online, (finding hosting, buying a domain, getting listed, ectera) and as a result I discovered a site called Wix that let's you create flash web-sites. So... about a week later when the work was done, I opened my own account and started working on a flash-based Slender Man website.
It's still not done. Lots of placeholders and what not still. But I'm updating it a little at a time. The goal of the site is to promote the mythos beyond the usual channels. I wanna try and build the fan-base for the mythos and get the word out to people who would never find it otherwise. It's OOG and serves to try and get people interested.
http://www.slendermanmythos.com/
The main feature of the site thus far is the "vlog hub". To get there, click the picture under "video series hub" on the "Get Started" tab. The blog and Creators hubs have been designed, but not yet implemented, so clicking those pictures does nothing.
Anyway, as part of the effort to make Slendy EVEN MORE viral and spread this outside the usual circles, I've created a Facebook fan-page for the mythos, since one didn't exist. There are ones for some of the series, but none for the whole Mythos, so I thought it deserved it.
http://www.facebook.com/SlenderManMythos
So... I'm still looking for feed-back on everything. The site design, the facebook page. Thoughts on any/everything if you don't mind. Thanks a ton.

Not being mean. But Wix is old shit. I used it to make my GaiaOnline profiles alot (If my account wasn't randomly perm'd I'd show you). However, if you need help don't hesitate to PM me and I'm sure I can help you out with any problems or fix a problem you're having.
Wix requires quite a bit of skill. So Kudos to you for doing so good without any real practice.

This is damn impressive. I have to say, I like what you've done with it so far, especially the stuff with the vlogs, and the taster page is a great idea for getting people interested. I will definitely be keeping an eye on it, that's for sure

Re: Slender Man Mythos Website
just took a look over the site myself, pretty impressive so far. the choice page at the beginning was a nice addition and i like the whole grey colour scheme to it, it's a got a soft but creepy touch to it.
it's definitely done well so far, and the preview page was absolutely lovely. i hadn't started to watch some of the series on there yet, so that's given me more to look at now.
so far not much else to say, i'll be certainly keeping an eye on it though. maybe when it comes along more i'll be able to think of more to say and any ideas to help with. great work.

Re: Slender Man Mythos Website
So really like the site. I only have 2 corrections for you:
The hiscollector blog is a Angel's Game gamejack and you spelled Agents wrong in the vlog preview part.
I think I'll show UF this. I might even put a link on the Slendy wikipedia page.
EDIT: Done.
Heres the UF thread:

Great work Zaber, I've been looking at this since you first linked it to us a while back and it's grown amazingly, and who better to work on this than the Compiler himself?
Phenom, stop linking unfiction. It's just getting irritating. No one cares if you made a topic over there.

Ah, but I must correct you Phenom. My backstage credentials can verify that hiscollector IS NOT a game jack. Oh wait... I didn't even need to use those credentials, seeing as the Facebook group that was attached to Angel's Game has recently changed to "hiscollector", verifying their connection. Regardless, the first is not a mistake and the second shall be fixed.
Also, please don't even try and put this on the wikipedia page until it's done. They won't count it credible until it is done and if they reject it now, they'll reject it later when it is done.

Re: Slender Man Mythos Website
Good stuff so far. Good luck on it.
My only complaint is in the preview section. I thought the series was "Outside Agents", not "Outside Agnets". However, I've never got around to watching the series, so I don't know if the video intentionally mistitled it.

Re: Slender Man Mythos Website
So, I'm still working on this, have been finding some help on Unfiction and such and wanted to extend that here.
Cross Posting from the Unfiction Thread:
...Anyway, like I said before, I'm now accepting help with some of the content. Crowd sourcing and what not. So... if anyone's up for it...
WHAT WE NEED RIGHT NOW
I. VLOG SUMMARIES
If you're a follower of any of these vlogs, I would appreciate if you
could write a 1-2 paragraph blurb that sums up the premise without
spoiling things very much. Some of the series I honestly have not had
time to watch and some I'm too close to the creators to be impartial on.
Story Summaries are needed for the Following Vlogs:
MLAndersen0
DarkHarvest
TJAProjects
compileTRUTH
Angel's Game
MyDarkJournal
jonclubs113
TheOutsideAgents
AppleOfOurEye
BeyondTheNeon
5zer02
photofugitive
004steps
In regards to vlogs currently not listed on the site, in order to
prevent a massive flood of them, I'm only placing series on the site
once they reach a certain size, namely more than 100 subs. I'm
literally aware of a dozen of them with only 20-30 subs and I've gotta
put some standards on this for the time being.
II. BLOG SUBMISSION
You can also now submit any blog you wish to be placed in the blog hub. To submit a blog, please provide the following.
1. Blog Name
2. A quote from the blog to be featured.
3. Based on the generation criteria below, classify it in a generation and briefly explain why.
4. A brief, 1-paragraph summary of the premise without spoilers.
5. The blog's URL.
6. Any other URLs relevant to the story, such as Twitters, Youtube channels, etctera.
7. Link to the blog's unfiction thread, if it has one.
You will be credited on the site for recommending the blog and writing the summary
As for the Generation Descriptions, here's the general idea.
Generation 1:
The first generation was a phase of experimentation, during which
elements of the original Something Awful thread and Marble Hornets were
expanded upon. Generation 1's main story emphasis was on horror and featured no connection between stories.
Generation 2:
The second generation represented a shift in mentality and story
telling. The second generation introduced the idea of characters
proactively fighting back against their tormentor, often producing minor
antagonists to create more practical conflict. Generation 1's main
story emphasis was on character driven narratives
and included small amounts of connectivity with characters commenting
on each others blogs to offer words of sympathy and encouragement.
Generation 3:
The third generation of Slenderblogs is marked by the high period of
connectivity between the blogs. This climate, which many regard as a
side effect of the proliferation of Core Theory in late 2010, has
received mixed reviews from the community, some arguing that the
connectivity makes the narratives more difficult to navigate while
others take issue with the concept of Core Theory itself and
misunderstand that any blog with connectivity or crossovers is part of
it.
Growing organically out of 2nd gen, Core theory was an extension of
resisting against Slender Man. It emphasized the role of "proxies",
humans under the slender man's influence who could be fought on even
ground. Generation 3's main story emphasis was on cooperation
and included large amounts of connectivity with characters commenting
on each other's blogs not only as character development, but frequently
with plot related conversations occurring within those comments.
Generation 4:
Following backlash from the community over Core Theory, Generation 4
combined elements of Generations 2 and 3 to create the modern
Slenderblog. While it maintained Gen 2's attitude of fighting back, it
rejected the premise of core theory while maintaining Gen 3's spirit of
cooperation. A subset of Gen 4 blogs featured a shared plot regarding
"the cure". Generation 4 also features numerous bloggers attempting to
research and experiment.
Generation 4's main emphasis is on organizations and research,
with significant connectivity, however less so than Generation 3.
Comments are again more about character development than plot, but with
more frequent crossover episodes outside of the core theory crowd.

So I've been looking through this again, I haven't checked it in a while. It's great so far, I can't wait till you get everything fully updated. The 10 videos section is great, you chose some of the scariest ones from each of the video series. Entry #18 god that's a good entry... But my favorite part, by far, albiet biased via narcissism, has got to be this.

That face says it all and so much more.

We've Moved, Whole New Site, WE GOT A URL
http://www.slendermanmythos.com/
Necroing this thread to just let you all know, since it's probably quite relevant to your interests. I rebooted the Slender Man Mythos fan-site I was working on, this time as a school project and with paid hosting and a genuine URL.
It's designed in HTML instead of flash this time (resolving loading and browser compatibility complaints) and equipped with Wordpress CMS, which should allow me to keep it constantly up to date.
It's not quite done, I need to finish the pages for the major vlog series, implement the blog index and write up some lexicon pages, but I'm still posting new video uploads daily if anyone is interested. I'd also greatly appreciate it if you could share the link around the Mythos community to help me get the new site out there.
...
I'm not entirely sure if I'm back yet. I'm considering it.
