Usually when he's there, they already know it. It might work, but it's not needed. They know it because he lets them see him. A common part of the mythos is unless Slendy wants you to see him/you are his target, then he has a perception filter that causes you not to notice him. This detector could bypass that, and detect him even when his attention is elsewhere. I've always thought that he could be vulnerable to ambush. This detector could see that hypothesis tested.
