Famous people aware of the Mythos

Post by DannyMurrayLives on Mon Oct 03, 2011 6:45 pm

The popularity of the SMM (Slender Man Mythos) is growing fast, and I'm pretty sure it won't be long before people on TV are making jokes about it (Your Mileage May Vary on whether this is good or bad). Anyway, here are all the famous people that I'm aware of that who know about the Mythos.
  • Roger Ebert-apparently reviewed Marble Hornets, but can't find the source for it, sadly.

  • Simon Pegg.

  • Linkara-debatable, but the Entity in his recent story line shares some characteristics with our Tall Friend.

Boom, there's the Ebert Tweet.

Anyway, I'm sure there was a possible few others, but for the life of me, I can't remember. Simon Pegg and Roger Ebert are definitely the ones I remember fully though.

I suppose you could count Little Kuriboh, he may be more of an internet celebrity but that is still technically being famous.

I'm actually hoping Jonathan Ross is aware of it since he is a lot like Simon Pegg.

Notch, of fame for creating the game Minecraft of course. Endermen are somewhat of a tribute.

Doug Jones, famous for portraying Abe Sapiens in the Hellboy Movies, as well as The Faun and The Pale Man in Pan's Labyrinth (He's somewhat of an expert in acting while under heavy costume. He's somewhere over six feet tall and a contortionist to boot.) also has been told about Slender Man.

It's a pretty random thing to bring up in interviews or conversations, but I imagine plenty of famous people have heard about Slender Man in passing, particularly any who embrace the internet.

Am I the only one who occasionally considers informing big names like Joss Whedon and Stephan King and seeing if they do anything with it?

I would love to see Joss Whedon see the appeal in it.

If only for the fact that The Mythos is something mainstream audiences would easily shy away from.

And Joss has always been one to shy away from mainstream audiences with most of his work. Hence all the GODDAMN CANCELLING OF HIS SHOWS. ARGH.

Are you kidding? Joss is extremely mainstream, just geek-mainstream.

That's what I meant, mainstream for us just not mainstream for the majority of people out there watching TV when his shows have been on.

Edit: To quote one of his interviews "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the road less traveled by and they CANCELLED MY FRIKKIN' SHOW. I totally shoulda took the road that had all those people on it. Damn."

I was just checking Jhonen Vasquez's Twitter, and he posted this:

"Irritated driver-ghost beats the shit out of Slender Man any day, man."

I don't think Slendy will be very happy about this...

TBH Simon Pegg said it was Dave Satan in his dream, not Slenderman. He may not know any more about Slendy than was tweeted at him during that hour or so.

You also forgot the whole of the Dr Who crew; it's fairly obvious who the Silence are based on. If they're genuinely not based on Slendy then I'm sure the similarities will have been pointed out to those responsible.

Oh, they were based on Slendy, whether Steven Moffet knows it or not. Razz
