Hello from the United Kingdom!

I first became aware of the terror that is Slenderman when, on a Doctor Who forum,
somebody pointed out the similarities between the Silents (A race of tall,
suite wearing aliens who can play tricks on the mind) and a creature called the
Slenderman from the YouTube horror series, Marble Hornets. I had never heard of
ether before, so being curious and a huge fan of horror, I decided to check it
out. I was hooked nearly instantly!

In an age when the horror genre seems to be mutating in to little more than blood and
guts slasher-like, it was such a joy to find a series that was truly terrifying
in a physiological ‘shocks and themes stays with you for days’ way. Entry #19 terrified
me for weeks! It also has a great and well written story and a good cast. I
love the totheark videos as well.

Since then I have been checking out a few other Slenderman series. TribeTwelve is another
great series which I have begun watching, its well-acted and written while it
also has much of the same dreaded fear of Hornets (Though at times I do wonder
if it is trying to copy Hornets style a little too much) EverymanHYBRID I am
enjoying, though I do get a little confused with it sometimes, as it seems to
have a lot of additional content outside of the vids. I would be grateful if
anyone could suggest any other Slenderman series out there!

I love the concept and style of Slenderman, along with that fact that his motives
are more or less never known. I think his one of the best horror icons since Krueger!

Welcome to the forum Valamist, you seem to be well versed in Slender lore, so I have little doubt you will enjoy your time here.
I suggest you get stuck in with exploring the forum, and joining Slytharken.

Welcome to the nation! I'm with you to a point on your horror gripes, but if a scary movie is going to fail, I'd rather it fail with buckets and buckets of gore. Piranha, for example, was a spectacular failure, and it was funny as hell. I will never get tired of that stupid piece of trash. Contrast with, say, The Strangers or Cry_Wolf, which tried to be taught psychological thrillers and failed so massively that they weren't nearly as interesting as they'd like to believe.

EDIT: Also, if you haven't already, go in and check out the list of Genuinely Disturbing Films down at the media board. Or hell, stroll into the dark part of Youtube and check out something like Don't Hug Me I'm Scared or any of Mr. Creepypasta's readings.

Anyway, thank you for the warm welcome! Smile

Sorry for the small delay in replying! (What? Over a year is small amount of time for some dark creatures . . .)

It's all good! Just remember we have a rule here about threads that don't have a reply for longer than 60 days where we lock it; we deem it dead and bury it pretty much.
