| I understand that Slenderman is based off of photos for a Paranormal Image contest for a forum, but there have been carvings discovered, they look strange. Notice that the figure is very tall and skinny. Just like the slenderman, however, you can see that this figure is not wearing a suit and it appears to have facial features (unless that is a mask or helment) I'm not saying this is anything close to the slenderman, but these carvings have to mean something.... I think I recall reading that they were wood-carved, into a castle. And that these carvings are from the 1400's. What does everybody think? Carvings: https://i.servimg.com/u/f74/18/12/70/76/slende10.jpghttps://i.servimg.com/u/f74/18/12/70/76/slende11.jpgI also found out these carvings from a video. MOD EDIT: Replies merged. Try not to double-post. ~sethlapod555 | |

| People have been connecting the Slender Man Mythos to the Der Ritter myth ever since the Slender Man Mythos came about, but are actually completely unrelated other than the factor of child haunting. - Misteh wrote:

| Thank you so much, I've been trying to find out the truth about these carvings for a very long time. You can do anything with Photoshop now these days. | |

The thing about the Slender Man Mythos is that anything can be fabricated or modified to make it look legitimate.

I agree, the people of this Verse are quite talented and some quite crafty. They could conjure up just about anything to give the Slender Man a real background.

| Even during the original creation of Slendy on SometingAwful Victor Surge was inventing a backstory for his images. The more immersed you become in the 'verse, the harder someone has tried to fake whatever your currently enjoying. Even the Der Ritter woodcuts and antiquity era legends, they've all been fabricated. | |

| He really did a good job. But I was a fool to believe that those carvings were even real. Yet they do point out a skeletal figure, very strange. O-O I'm not really concerned though, thanks for showing me that picture on deviantART. That really answered my questions. | |
