Slender series: Slendertheseries Empty
PostSubject: Slender series: Slendertheseries   Slender series: Slendertheseries EmptySat Nov 05, 2011 1:41 pm

I recently found out about a new slenderman series, so, I wanted to share it with you and see if you might watch it, so it has some good footage, and there costume is really good.

The first one didn't disappoint me because there was no slenderman, because you can still see that they have the slenderman costume which just brings suspence, well over all only the first one has been out witch was 19 hours ago, so if you want to follow along, I would now! Haha, so heres there youtube:

hey guys, I know this is a massive bump, but I am actually the author of that series. I found this post after doing a simple google search and decided to register here Smile .It's part of a college project I am doing. The series is completed and as of now, I don't plan on posting anymore episodes, as I'm busy with college work, but I hope to fill any plot-holes and unanswered questions with subsequent episodes (or a possible sequel) should I find time to do so in the future.
If there's any questions about my project, I'd be happy to answer them. Smile

I get the feeling the editor likes Resident Evil 4.

EDIT: I've only seen Promotion and the first episode so far.

Haha, yeah, that's true! It's really difficult finding creepy music without any prior knowlege of where to search, and since I'd recently played quite a bit of Re4, I thought I'd stick with what I knew, and got ahold of the soundtrack.
Also, Promotion was a VERY early trailer. if you want a much better one, on my channel I have a video called Slender-The Series (2011) Trailer. That actually contains new footage and such, rather than a generic WMM one.
And if you want to skip all the storyline crap (which I'd understand) and get straight to the Slenderman appearances, I'd skip straight to Episode 5. The other episodes are pretty much just leading up to that. I'm not sure if that makes it more effective when he finally appears, or whether it hinders the series in any way.

I was really impressed with it until Slenderman actually appeared.

For all they effort put into shooting this at such high quality, they could have spent a bit more time getting the titular phantom at least a bit more subtle and believable. I could even accept that she punched Slenderman in the face, if it just didn't look so silly.

I would like to give more praise for the rest of the show, but surely a good portrayal of the stringbean himself is a pre-requisite to success on the slender screen?

Looking back now, having the Slenderman phased for a second due to him getting punched seems really out of character and I regret haven't that part there. We had to re-shoot that little bit 5, maybe 6 times (as evidenced by some of the outtakes I uploaded recently) and believe it or not, that was the best take :/
As for the quality of the film, if I could give you the make and model of the camera and equipment we used and stuff, I would, but for the life of me, I can't remember what camera I took from the college.
I guess this should be a good time to mention, in terms of me collecting feedback for this project, the only details I am REALLY interested in is

  • Editing
  • Camera shots/movement
  • Music
I know the acting is really bad/cheesy in most areas, and that's partly due to the fact most of the actors are inexperienced, or my script writing and development wasn't up to par, or simply because we just didn't have time to keep re-taking scenes. The guy who played Matherson is a teacher at our college, and so he was constantly having to leave and come back, which sometimes messed with shooting schedules and continuity.
Something I haven't really asked about before, what do you guys think to the UK setting? I was quite interested in what peoples opinions of having Slenderman series in the UK or other countries. Does it add some variety, or does it just make the whole thing seem unbelievable?

Slender series: Slendertheseries Empty
PostSubject: Re: Slender series: Slendertheseries   Slender series: Slendertheseries EmptySun Jan 01, 2012 2:08 pm

As a Brit, I have been waiting for a Slenderman in the UK. I don't see any reason why not to. Espescially if you go for the 'Der Ritter' and 'Grossman' angle, Slenderman is one of those timeless evils from which nobody is truly safe, no matter what nation.
Who knows, maybe in the future, Slenderman will wear a space-suit and appear to people on the Moon base. They will call him the Slendernaut. Razz

Seriously, though, I think all you really need to work on is the way Slenderman is shown.
I think we get too much time to look at him and notice things like the actors face through the stocking, or the tassles on his hands.
Some fast cutting alone would vastly improve these scenes, I think.
If you look at the film Alien, that also, is just a guy in a suit. But you don't see it for long enough to notice. I'm not saying I expect you to be the next Ridley Scott, only that sometimes, less is more.
One other thing I kept thinking is, 'this needs some crooked camera angles'. You know, to imply madness/fear/confusion.

It was so refreshing to have a proper drama style series, a great change from all of Blair Witch style handicam mockumentaries. It's exactly what I want to see more of.
But, Slenderman is the money shot. And he's got to be right, or surely they whole thing falls apart? I mean, TribeTwelve blew my mind! Dat effects! And, I dont know, but he's just some guy with a camera and computer. But he shows what is possible, and I think, set the benchmark.

I think this could be better than all of those handicam vlogs, and it is in a lot of ways, but Slenderman! SLENDERMAN!

So, I'm really looking forward your next offering!

I have just watched this series and the only thing I will say is that slendy really didn't do it for me. He was obviously fake and it really took away from the series as I, like the other posters on this thread, am using to watching series' such as TribeTwelve (whose slendy is the best yet IMO), marble hornets, everymanHYBRID, darkharvest00. I loved the non-handcam take but slendy is a lot scarier if you only focus on him for a few seconds and it's not obvious that he's just a guy with tights over his head bounce

What is with all the necros lately? It's like nobody even reads the rules anymore.
