PostSubject: The Slenderart Thread   The Slenderart Thread EmptyTue Dec 25, 2012 9:51 pm

So I think I mentioned this before on Zander's livestream somewhere, but I'm a bit of an artist and have drawn quite a bit of Slenderart. I figured that at some point I should post some of it here, just for funsies. The rest of the stuff I don't post here, of course, is available on my Artgrounds account, which is in my signature, but here's some of the stuff I think it the best (in link format because there's quite a few):

He Sees You: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109335/ (This is probably my favorite drawing I've done. I have a speedart video of this one here if anyone would like to see it.)

Lost Notes: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109333/ (Those paper lines were left in on purpose and were hard to keep in, since I had to try not to remove the color from them in polishing the image so they'd still show up...)

Can't Run: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109329/ (My one token "ARRGH Slendy has me; I'm about ten different shades of screwed!" picture.)

On the Attack: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109332/ (Wanted to do something dynamic with the tendrils, and good Lord those are the longest fingers Slendy could have ever. o.o)

BranchOut: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109669/ (Intended as a design for a picture frame, and drawn with the intent of playing with branching tendrils)

SlenderFail: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109375/ (Just a silly little picture. Yes, you CAN facepalm without a face. XD)

The Rake: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109324/ (What it says on the tin, but I don't think this one came out that great. You EMH fans might like it though. Smile )

Does anyone else out there draw and want to share some of their stuff? :3

i watched through those and i really love them ^^ You have a very good drawing style and i really like the poses you give the slenderman, especially the one on the attack!
The only thing i'd for improvement say is you could try to add some more details and shadows to your Artwork, but i already think it's great the way it is ^^ I'd definately like to see more!

I haven't drawn anything for a while but i might give it a go for slenderman soon, so maybe I can post something here in a few days!!

I am not the best artist in the world ... but I hope you'll like my Slenderman... just a sketch I drew when I was bored today...
sorry, all I have is the camera of my mobile phone at the moment...

Very Happy That's cool. You're way better at hands than I am, and I like the way you play with shadows on his non-face to imply a bit of structure underneath. Seems like me you also love playing around with his tendrils, making them swoopy and curlicue and such. They are fun to draw, aren't they? ^w^

On my art style - I realize it's rather basic; I'm trying to go for a more surrealist style there. I have done some realistic work with more shadows and light, but I'm so out of practice with it... O.o

haha i have so much abstract work with spirals (though it's not slender related unfortunately, have it only on deviantart) and his tendrils are just perfect for that ^^
yeah i almost guessed that a basic style was your intention after looking more closely, sometimes it just delivers the message of the image much better than detailed work...
anyway, i am really glad that you like my slenderman, playing with the shadows was really fun... i am on holiday, maybe i'll do another one soon because i don't have much to do in the next 2 weeks, if i do so it will be up here Smile
thanks for the comment

I love the way you draw Slenderman's hand grasping out toward the viewer, and the "There Isn't Enough Face For All The Facepalm" picture is just awesome. Your drawing style is great! Draw more!

I love your Slendy's lines of action as well as his tendrils. His tendrils are just...everywhere. I also appreciate getting a good story per picture. You can really set a scene.

Oh, that hand reaching out isn't an illusion. He can actually physically see you from where he is on the page, the fourth wall just isn't permeable enough for him to actually take you. XD

The facepalm picture is actually one of my favorites. I have always been rather fond of the idea that Slendy does indeed have emotions (at least primitive ones), and can use his tendrils to show his emotional state somewhat like how a cat shows their emotions with their tails. For instance, wildly thrashing tendrils would mean anger, whereas slowly writhing tendrils could indicate curiosity, interest, or contentment. That's what I was doing here with the drooping tendrils. He's just as sick of bullshit as the rest of us, and he just so happens to know what a human being "facepalming" means. XD

Packfong wrote:

I've seen your work and I love it Packfong. I love how well you balance the sharpness of his face and frame with the softer curves of his tendrils, it looks really nice and just adds so much to the creepiness...

I love, love, love drawing Slendy's tendrils! They're just so abstract and so much fun to make writhe, curl, and bend around, like big flexible noodles or something. They sense as much as interact, they destroy as much as curiously test, they are simultaneously gentle and brutal, sometimes curving lightly as they react to stimuli around him, and sometimes just shooting straight through your ribcage to rip your lungs out. There is something brutally graceful and gruesomely beautiful in the Slenderman's strange and abnormal form, and I always enjoy playing around with the abstractness of it and with Slendy's tendrils in general because I love the surreal, the abstract, and the strange. He's incredibly fun to draw for me! Very Happy

Normally, Packfong, I give him four tendrils for a total of six limbs plus the arms, which makes him look vaguely insectoid. Rather creepy. In "He Sees You" I wanted to just have the tendrils fill up and take over everything, and I thought a spider-like look would look good on the Slender One, so I added two extra tendrils for a total of eight limbs. Pleasant nightmares to you folks with arachnophobia in the audience, and I'm sorry for the shivers I caused... or am I? >:3

And another thing - I've always been fond of the idea of the last thing you see when he takes you being him reaching for you. Just... imagine that a second. You're on the ground, violently ill from the Sickness or otherwise just too weak to move or paralyzed, and you look up at him. He towers over you as he stares implacably down at you, his sightless gaze seeing through you, past you, into you, searing into the very fabric of your being and filling you with immeasurable dread. His tendrils surround you like prison bars, like a vast canopy of branches, blocking out light and hope, slowly tasting the fear in the air around you as they undulate like tentative worms. You are paralyzed by the terror, hypnotized by his aura, trapped in a most deviously designed cage... just as he wants you to be. He slowly tilts his blank canvas head at he observes your supine form, and you cannot help but feel he is amused, enjoying and deeply drinking in your fear with the same unhurried, devoted passion a wine-lover would have for a fine vintage. And the last thing you see, right before it all goes dark, is his spidery, pale hand, with its too-long and too-few fingers, reaching down for you, reaching down to take everything, reaching in to strip you of what little concept of reality you have left...

Oh, and I write as well as draw, and have been writing poetry and short fiction (as well as fanfiction, but not the creepy kind) for the past nine years. Started in elementary school and never really stopped after that. So if I'm good at setting a scene, that's probably why. Smile

I quite like the style here, although I'm not super fond of the slightly realistic style on Slendy with the cartoonish style on the girl, which I'm assuming is you, because every Slenderartist out there needs their one token "Halp I'm being Slender-napped!" picture. XD

lol it's actually not me, i cut my hair short a year ago, i thought more of the girl from the slender game when drawing ^^
anyway i agree that slender turned out more realistic, because i could draw a lot more details ... i didn't want the girl to turn out as dark as the slenderman so i had to hold back a little... well anyway i think i need some practice, it's been a while since I've drawn...
anyway i liked the thought this time of slenderman "checking" his prey with his tendrils before taking it...

I'd say that your girl is just stylized more than he; her hair is actually quite good, just inconsistent with him, unless you were to do his tendrils in the same "cartoony" way, like in the first one. Maybe less shadows.

I'd losen your hand up as well; one thing I was advised in school was to not draw perfect lines, but many lines, then accentuate the perfect line when it appeared. This gives a sort of unfinished feel sometimes but it does wonders for the sensitivity of the drawing and the possibilities are endless. In fact, I was told that perfecting my lines flattened the image! Imagine my frustration, as I am a miserable perfectionist at times when it comes to art.

Also, I find a line of action and drawing the figure first as a mannequin helps a lot, too.

http://www.learn-to-draw.com/more/figure-drawing/figure-drawing0414.shtml

I hope I'm not being overbearing; I love the German, by the way. Are you German/know German?

hey thanks for all the advice and taking time to write so much ^^
I really know what you mean by perfectionist, i tried not to draw perfect lines with slendermans suit and head, but it seems i messed up the hands again... guess i was a little lazy with the girl Smile Anyway, leaves a lot possibilities of improvement and i'll do my best in the next drawing...

and YES i am german Smile i live in the City Hannover so if you want to know any (everyone else is welcome too!!!) just feel free to ask me ^^ also if you want to know what i wrote on my images...

Yeah, it seems like you did some searching lines; I'd just say keep the wrist loose. It's kinda fun. And I hate hands. They're evil.

the one with the girl says:

I won't run away anymore
because no matter how far I'm running
er sees me everywhere
all the time
steadily
I'll just wait here
and don't look back

and the other one says

"once you see me you'll never be alone again."

hands and feet are purely evil, i agree... but anyway, i'll keep on trying to make a good drawing while still on holidays ^^

i usually tend to use english captions on my pictures but i really like the link slenderman has to germany in the myth so I changed my mind in this case ^^

I also really like that idea, almost like he's testing to see if you're edible, or if you're afraid enough or weak enough... *shudders* Either way I really don't think I wanna be in that girl's position, being touched or in any way "checked" or "tested" by those creepy things. Seriously I never used to be freaked out by tentacles or anything until I got into this Mythos. You can all blame Etreo's post here for that. XD

I also really like Slendy's connections to Germany in various aspects of the Mythos too. Seems appropriate that something that dangerous and creepy would come from a place like Germany's Black Forests, which of course get their name from the tall pine trees that blot the sun out with their thick canopies of needles...

That is simultaneously the most comforting and creepy thing I've heard all day, and it's so damn perfect for the Slender One. XD

Packfong wrote:

Fuck hands. I only make abstract Slendy hands look good because I practiced the shit out of them, and even then I'll still fuck up and they'll come out weird. Also I have to touch them up in post-polishing with my photo editing program, or they don't look as long and sharp and slender as they should. Yes, I am a ridiculous perfectionist; thanks for the compliment. XD

hmmm i've never been to "schwarzwald" oder "black forest" but I used to play a lot in forests as a child, don't know if i could do that anymore today XD ... but i grew up in an area surrounded by lots of lonely fiels and small forests, it's pitch black there at night, would be awesome for ARG'S... but i think every country has creepy places... anyway i liked the thought of slenderman lingering there during world war two, as another evil being in those dark times...

Oh it is a compliment, Armadeira. ^^ I enjoy creepy things. Wouldn't be here in the vast forest that is this fandom if I weren't. Wink

I remember going to a lot of parks as a kid, and one in particular was basically set inside of a forest with super tall trees. There were no clear areas at all, and all the play equipment was under these huge pines and oaks. There's also another park near where I live that has a similar setup to Rosswood in MH - clear park area in front, trails in back, but nowhere near as extensive. I still live in the same area as both parks to this day and both also would make great spots for an ARG... That's one of the benefits of living in the North-Midwestern United States, you see, forests freaking everywhere. It's a Slenderfan's dream (nightmare?) come true, which is why I joke in my info to the side that I'm located somewhere in Slenderman country. It's because I actually do live in that kind of wooded area with a lot of parks and trails nearby. We even have some weird structures out on the trails, like weird concrete things, abandoned huts, once I found a lean-to made of branches... Not as many abandoned buildings since it's a suburb, though. The downside is that at night, if you're watching Slenderseries and it's dark outside, and your house is surrounded by groves of trees... Well, you get the idea. I've scared myself more than once that way. Great fun, just have a buddy with you. XD

I too kinda like the thought that maybe he's either a sign of or drawn to tragedy, as if him merely being around inspires people to just go nuts and causes things to fall apart. So yes, I almost could imagine him being around somewhere in-universe during WWII, or even during WWI with Germany's fall thereafter...

... Huh. Has anyone ever done a Slenderblog set during WWII? That could actually be really, really fascinating.

oh yeah growing up an an area like that can be a blessing, just imagine an empty field in a winter night when the huge, creepy figure of slenderman is walking behind you... nowhere to hide or escape...
i remember when i was walking as a child with a friend and her sister through a forest and i wanted to scare them and told them the whole time a saw a man following us, they really got the creeps and wanted to go home XD
well i don't live in that area anymore though, i went to hannover, a quite large city with lots of people, i really don't know if i like it...
hmmm slenderblog during world wars seems awesome, if some people would want to join me i'd totally do it, i mean, i can help with the german too... just don't really have a storyline in my head yet

How he looms behind you, at least twice as tall as you are and less than half as wide, so many tendrils curling around your head and tasting the aura of nervousness around you, writhing just outside of your peripheral vision... So close he could reach out to touch you, mere inches away from you, comfortably following in your shadow and unnoticed by anyone who isn't aware of him... He makes no sound, he speaks nothing for he cannot speak, his footsteps, if he indeed walks, perfectly matching in cadence with your own. And all the while, you swear there's someone following, you swear there's something just behind you watching, you swear up and down on your life you can feel chills down your spine, the kind that only come when you know there's something terrible coming after you but you can't see it. But every time you turn to look, every time you glance over your shoulder or dare stop to check, there's nothing. No one following, no one watching, no one. Except there is. You just can't see him because he's still behind you, where you aren't looking, and all the way home you wonder just what it is you're so very, very afraid of...

Hallowed:
http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109330/ (That person he's holding looks a little awkward to me. Dammit I hate drawing normal people; that's why I draw Slenderman instead. XD)

Courage: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109328/ (Was a gift for a friend of mine.)

Slenderman: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109326/ (Quick and simple; my first Slendy drawing. :3 The distort and noise filters were added in post-polishing of the image.)

Down In The Woods Today...: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109327/ (Yes I know Slenderman doesn't normally walk. This was another first one I drew and I thought it looked cool at the time. But if he did walk I imagine it probably wouldn't look anything like this, if anything it would probably look WAY more disjointed and maybe even double-jointed...)

I Still Believe - Monsters: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109594/ (Drawn as part of a series on fandoms and things I enjoy. The theme here was Creepypasta in general, which is why Jeff the Killer's in there even though I really don't like that pasta. I just needed someone else iconic and I can't draw smiledog.jpg because I suck at drawing animals, so Jeff got stuck in there... In retrospect, maybe I should have just thrown Masky or some other Proxy in there and made it purely about the Mythos...)

Gift For FNoSlenderFans: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109526/ (What it says on the tin. This is, *sigh* Fanart for a Tumblr about terrible Slenderman fanart called fnoslenderfans. On the plus side though, this one contains Slendy about to tear the hell out of a Mary-Sue. And showing off a pseudo-mouth that probably melts right back into his non-face when not in use... I dunno, I always found the concept of him having a mouth that's not always visible a bit interesting, but hey. Either way, ooh look violent Slendy!)

Slenderman Sketch: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109527/ (Again, what it says on the tin... I got bored in between classes and drew this on a spare scrap of lined paper.)

Quick Operator Sketch: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109372/ (Not so fond of this one because although it was my first time drawing digitally, I think it looks like crap. :c Maybe I'll redraw this in ink and colored pencil sometime though, because I really love the pose and concept I have here...)

SlenderDrake, SlenderDrake...: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109376/ (Yes, that is Slenderman as a dragon. I also draw a lot of dragons because I love dragons. I actually collect everything to do with dragons and have since the fifth grade; my collection is extensive with almost 100 pieces in it. So I decided, "hey, let's make Slendy a dragon" just for funsies.)

Imaginary Friend, Imaginary Fiend?: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109334/ (Oh God I find this one so ugly. It didn't come out like anything I wanted it to at all. That little girl doesn't look right to me, the tendrils look bad to me, his head looks like a bean, I just hate this one. But I figured you guys might still like to see it because of the concept - little girl meets new imaginary friend, who is probably just thinking that she looks like dinner... XD)

And that's actually everything I have for now. I do have some other sketches and stuff but I haven't scanned them in yet.

wow you are really quick ^^
i love the slenderwalk one with the mist!!!
the one in the notebook looks really good too, the shadiws and the details in the face (as far as a detailes face is possible for slenderman XD) are amazing ^^ the tendrils seem a little stiff for my taste, but i don't mind it too much...
hope to see more soon

as for the creepy vignettes... both of you do an awesome job with this XD so i don't think any of you should stop, i really enjoy them

Redrew the Quick Operator Sketch recently, so that should be up soon.

No Armadeira, that was art I had up already but didn't post the first time. XD

EDIT: Some more stuff...

Operator Sketch Redone: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109749/ (What it says on the tin... redrew the Quick Operator Sketch.)

Slenderman Is Not Okay With This:
http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109748/ (I wanted to do a parody of those "It's a Culture Not A Costume" posters to make a statement about shipping the Tall Guy where it just doesn't make sense. Folks, he is not a cute Bishie. :3 I honestly do not know where that Pyramid Head/Slendy vector came from, I found it randomly on Google... O.o)

A Delicate Operation: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109814/ (On request from Etreo in a thread on this very forum, I drew this image of Slendy just tearing Jeff the Killer apart. Had so much fun with it! New colored pencils on this one too, Hardtmuth woodless ones. I really like them so far! Very Happy)

Bonus Sketches - DarkShadows Forum Profile: http://www.artgrounds.com/submission/109813/ (Thought I'd kinda draw me looking sort of like my avatar here. ^w^ Looks kinda like a bipedal Rake now that I think of it. I do not actually own that Operator symbol T-shirt, but I wish I did.)
