So I just watched The Cabin in the Woods (2012) last night, and while I came in with semi high expectations, having had allot of friends recommend it, when it first came out, I must say I was quite disappointed.

I enjoyed it. It was definitely different. I was pleasantly surprised.

this one actually became my favorite. I went in as a huge fan of Joss Whedon's work so I was quite happy with the result.

I actually really like it. It deconstructs the horror movie genre in a way that's very entertaining to watch IMO. Maybe not the most brilliant plot ever, but I enjoyed it, and it had some genuine funny moments. I'd never call it the best movie ever, but it kicks the crap out of most stuff Hollywood churns out these days.

I really enjoyed parts of it. It had a nice, classic Joss Whedon sensibility, particularly with the 'organization' that runs everythign and the inherent humour therein. But the actual main monsters were sort of 'meh' for me, and the ending, while creative, was sort of unsatisfying.

I used to be a Joss Whedon fan, when I had only seen Firefly and Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog, however he has just made way to many mediocre films in my opinion. I didn't actually know that he had written and produced The Cabin in the Woods until I read your post. Probably would have been even more disappointed if I had know this when I watched the film Razz
