Slender Man Wikipedia Page Finally Happening

So with that article in the Star Tribune, apparently now Slender Man finally has the right to its own Wikipedia page:

Now, my opinion's mixed on this. I'm not necessarily against it, but I'm not really for it either. It just seems kind of unnecessary to me. Cool to have, sure, but unnecessary. And the Star Tribune's article can hardly be considered a credible source, given how it was written.

I'm not looking to stir a rebellion or promote its production, but I'm interested to hear the thoughts in here, 'cause I don't see it talked about (I should probably better acquaint myself with most of these threads, I've been here long enough) and I'm curious what you SN people think.

The article was written very unprofessionally, and there are a number of glaring inaccuracies in it. I don't think it, on its own, is a credible (enough) source, but if it is used as a springboard for other, more accurate sources then I wouldn't have any particular complaints.

The thing is there are the fans who want him to be secluded in their own little community. i.e. only us. And then those who want him out there. They are looking forward to this growing into a Hollywood movie. Personally I'm on the fence, it has amazing potential to be a defining horror of our generation, but at that price comes being over used in copious amounts. If he stays here, it's us who know about him, us who shape him. Who knows what Hollywood could do.

As stuff like this keeps happening it will grow and grow. There is really no way to tell what can become of it. As for now though, it seems fine nothing is drastically changing, just a simple Wikipedia article, can only introduce a few more people.

Even then Thage is right, that article needs a re-write, it has so much more potential. It didn't catch my interest at all.

There are a number of mistakes in the article.
It also doesn't look to appealing for the eyes.

As much I was feeling happy when I heard of the news, my joy got quickly shot down like a potato the moment I decided to take a gander at the page.
For a lack of words, I settled with defining it as "a pot of soup with too many cooks thrown in".

I think that the only person who is editing it is Phenom from Unfiction, and I agree that there are a number of inaccuracies... that and Phenom tends to jump into things without thinking :/

but.. eh, I'm don't care either way about the Wiki page *shrugs* And if this does get turned into a movie, I prey to god that they at least do some research and hopefully (but very doubtful) they come to us (creators and fans) and ask us for input.

If we do our best to get our input to them it may help, If they do do some research I don't see why they wouldn't come to us. That IS the mythos, all of us. Hollywood may be going to shit nowadays but they can't be that stupid.

I've always wanted a wikipedia page on SM so that there's something quick and easy to point newcomers to. This pleases me. I haven't read it, but if it's as bad as everyone says it is, it's not hard to contribute to the page and make it more accurate. I certainly intend on doing so. I need to raise my credibility on wikipedia anyways. The only other time I edited something was on the glue page, a practical joke that a mod found funny enough but still warned me about.

I enjoyed them... Then again I fucking love B movies so yea. But I thought Transformers 2 was good. So was GI Joe.

Honestly Thage, no, I highly doubt that Hollywood'll make a good Slenders movie :/ there is a very, very, very slim chance that they could do it right, but I see it not working out and failing and all of the original fans/creators being very, very disappointed in it.

But not all video game/comic book movies have been bad... I think that steadily, they've been getting better.... >.>;

I really don't care one way or another about a Slender Man Wiki page because honestly, I never use Wikis. They have biased (at best) information and often promote ignorance. I think that a short intro page would be cool, but that could be and has been achieved other ways.

Also, the page seems incomplete, more than anything else. I think we should note out what's not there yet and what should be corrected and then just edit it in. I'll sit down to taking notes when I get back home after the weekend.

That's going down quickly. Weasel words, lack of sources, generally incomplete.

I always did like the idea of him being a dryad. The "trees" thing always really appealed to me. Must find some way of using that.
