Theory on White Elephants, Robert, and redlight

Okay, so I've been reading through White Elephants since the reboot, and every entry has me going "wut" just a little more. Robert drives Slendy off with the POWAH OF ROCK! Redlight is revealed to be a hivemind instead of a single person, and is promoted as "canon" to the Slenderverse. And just now, Robert's going to find someone who evidently knows the Slender Man's first name (although it's obvious that full name is really Jack Slenderman). It just kind of feels like wifin' in some ways. It's jumping the shark. It's almost like fanfiction.

And that's when it hit me. Maybe it is fanfiction.

Well, okay, so naturally it's already fanfiction Out-of-Game. All the blogs are, except for the informative ones, to an extent. But I mean In-Game. My theory is that, since the reboot and Robert's return, White Elephants has been redlight's fanfiction.

Note the complete shift in tone. Robert's tone has completely changed. It's partially because he's not using the "Core Theory" shorthand he did before, but something about his writing just seems to be off. His entire character has shifted.

My theory for this change? Everything after Robert's memories being erased has been redlight's fanfiction.

Think about it. In the older entries, redlight was an enigmatic presence, coming out of nowhere and erasing Robert's memories. In the newer entries, though, he's been elevated to the level of being Slendy's second-in-command, his go-to guy. He's become a name that everyone fears. He's a manipulative, clever bastard, and Robert's just insane. So it's fanfiction with the purpose of making him look good and Robert look bad. Robert really never came back. Redlight just pretended he did so that he could write about something. Because, hey, why waste a blog?

"But Andy," you say, "haven't Dean and Ava physically met up with Robert in-game?"

Okay, let me ask you something. How many of you have seen a picture of Robert? Who here knows what he looks like? To keep up the ruse, redlight masqueraded as Robert and "helped them out" so that he could continue his fun.

"But why would redlight even need to write fanfiction? He won! He already beat Robert! What's his purpose?"

Well, yes, technically speaking. But bringing back Robert gives him more chances to be manipulative. And people like manipulative characters. How many times has he bested everyone now? And how many people know his name? He has subtley made himself into a Mary Sue (or Marty/Gary Stu, though I don't see why there needs to be a male-specific term), and we haven't even noticed him doing it.

"But...why would a guy like redlight write fanfiction?"

Because he's lonely, okay? He's not really in good graces with Slendy, or even a Revenant. He's just some proxy who took care of Robert, expected to be promoted for it, and wasn't. He's jealous of the Revenants, so he wrote himself as one so that people would fear him and blame him for all sorts of behind-the-scenes stuff. I dunno, take your pick.

So, kind of a cracky theory, and there's probably quite a few holes in it, but I kind of like it. Responses go down below, like always!

I've written Redlight fanfiction what are you trying to say

You know, as cracked out as this theory is...It does have a point. I've only read the "rebooted" WE and even I have to admit that Robert is behaving strangely, even for a Slender victim/person with three (?) rounds of epic memory loss. I think I would prefer the twist that Redlight was writing all along, perhaps in an attempt to smear Robert's memory (he's accused Robert of being a pedophile in the past, so writing his blog wouldn't be the worst thing he's done) to what I legitimately think is happening out-of-game. The multiple Redlight reveal feels like a handwave to justify other bloggers writing about this character, attributing aspects that don't always match up. Finding out Slendy's "real name" seems, well, a little like a stunt. I like the blog, I do. But it feels like the person writing it is getting tired.

Still, the Robert-Is-Redlight theory has been mentioned in the blog itself (with Fight Club references no less). I'm going to hope that your theory is correct.

i like this idea, and I certainly hope Robert pays attention to it!
