| I'm okay with folks using The Grigori as long as you keep his general nature and let me know ahead of time. | |

| I guess I'll have a go at this. Seems interesting enough.
---------------------------------------------
Name: K34
History: K34 is a mysterious hacker who is targeted by Slender Man. Little is really known about his personal past. Knowing that he only has so much time left, he takes it upon himself to hack the accounts of blog posters to warn them. He keeps his messages brief and vauge enough that The Organization does not try to track him down aswell. He has done this for the past year.
Personality: K34 is know to be very truthful and, thus, can sound very mean. He does point out the personality flaws that will get you killed. He tries to not meet in person, however, if his hand is forced, he will. He can be quite ignorant and extremely rude in person, trying to get the other away so nothing bad happens to them.
Appearance: K34 has been known to wear a gray ski mask with gold tinted sunglasses underneith. He wears a completely blue shirt and cargo paints. It is assumed this is to make him look a bit more natural to those not looking for him.
-------------------------------------------------
Use him as you will and feel free to change a bit. Telling me if you wanna use him would be nice too.
EDIT: I HAVE TAKEN THE NAME. Please contact me for any SPOOKY comments you'd like me to leave. I'll let you choose what I say. Just so it's relevant. | |

| I've decided to open source the Femme Fatale Slenderproxy from my upcoming PI blog before I begin writing the blog she features in. With access to the Path of Black Leaves she could show up anywhere and still feature in my blog. All I ask is that she not be killed off without permission and that no drastic changes in her character take place. No one knows her real name, she's used so many aliases and back-stories even she may have forgotten her past before she began serving her Father. So far very few people have connected the beautiful woman with an uncanny resemblance to Rita Hayworth with the masked killer Mame. Unless they do make the connection most people have no idea at all that she's a Proxy. Usually she operates as a honey trap, seducing targets for information or to set them up for someone else to kill - or even to try and recruit a Runner to her side. She's also not above slipping her target a mickey if it will serve her purposes. When she needs to kill someone herself her preferred weapon is a garrote. When planning to kill she puts on her mask and brings along the "la loupe" style garrote preferred by the French Foreign Legion (see the linked wiki article), however when in civilian garb she always wears a silk scarf or some other item that can be used as a garrote in a pinch. She has also shown skill in Krav Maga. The only supernatural ability she has shown is the access to the Path of Black Leaves common to Slenderproxies. She has also been known to develop an inexplicable fondness for the occasional Runner in which case she has been known to aid them, even against other Proxies (Slenderproxies as well as those of other Fears). Some worry that she's just setting her hook even further to make a future betrayal more emotionally damaging but it hasn't happened yet. The name "Mame" comes from the song " Put the Blame on Mame" written for the 1946 film "Gilda" and sung by Rita Hayworth's character. The fact that it's pronounced exactly like "Maim" is just a happy coincidence. There are other verses to the song but I thought I'd link to the original performance. | |

| So. The Archive recently concluded its first story arc. I don't expect many pure slenderblogs will take advantage of this, but two Archive characters are now Open Source: Neomaria: A young woman who looks to be about twenty years old. She is extremely pale, with dark eyes and dark brown hair, which is wild and unkempt. She wears a plain white robe that has been cut open around the region of her gut, and nothing else. She tends to wander around aimlessly, lost and confused and above all, scared. She rarely knows where she is or how she got there, and she doesn't understand anything about the world around her or how it works, as she was raised in seclusion within the Archive. The Nightlanders, for whatever reason, are fiercely protective of her, and will ruthlessly attack anyone whom they believe will do her harm. And there are always Nightlanders near her. They ride along in her shadow. Ghost: A young man who seems to be in his mid-twenties. He is of African descent and speaks as if from London. He dresses casually and keeps his head shaved. He was formerly designated Inquisitor Nu, but was granted leave of the Archive in order to find Neomaria. He often shows up to investigate places where she has been sighted, and singlemindedly pursues her in the hopes of reuniting with the girl he loves. | |

| I actually find this thread kind of funny now. It seems to be a bulletin board with multiple messages reading "Hey, everyone, this is a minor character in my blog you've never heard of! You can, you know, use them if you want!"
I'm really not meaning to offend anyone here, but...well, I'm going to have to use this bluntly. The reaction of almost everybody is "yeah, cool, whatever." I have close to 90 followers and next to no one has any particular interest in using even the most interesting of my characters. People have almost stopped using Redlight altogether, and they never really used more than him.
Nobody's going to use your characters. I'm being blunt, but it's only I'm only being brutally honest. It's probably not a good idea to get your hopes up or expect anything. | |

| Eh, you're probably right, but it's still fun to throw it out there. | |

| I'd say it could also be lack of space at times. Too much plot set in stone that you can't find a way to fit them in or you forget to attempt using them. Or just can't think of any ideas for them.
At least that's usually what it is for me. But still, it's nice to throw the characters out there for the possibility of usage at one point. You're right though; just don't get hopes up about it.
Still. I've got some deaths for later points in my blogs. Might be tempted to make their deaths be by some open source characters. | |

| I think some of it might be that people don't know how they would feel using characters that aren't theirs by design. To me it feels like cheating. I confess that I have used a minor open source character from this thread before, but it was in an irrelevant cameo, and I only barrowed a vauge visual discription that didn't nessiciarily have to be the same exact person. I wouldn't feel comfortable taking someone else's creation and turning it into something they may not have origonally intended (Slender Man being the exception, mainly because he's not human). Then issues of geography and the fact that those characters are often already busy with your own plot, so it doesn't make sense for them to be running around terroizing other bloggers until you finish your blog/story arc.
Finnally, there is the tiny issue that's going to sound a bit cynical: a lot of these people aren't that origonal. I mean no offense to anyone, but just another runner trying to survive, or just another proxy running around stabbing people is hardly intresting enough to make one feel a need to intergrate them into their stories.
Admitadly I will be offering up a few characters for grabs in a month or two, but I don't really expect anyone to jump on them. Truth be told, I may even try to pawn them off on specific people, just to increase the likelyhood they show up a little more. Do I want them to be used? Sure, of course I do. Do I expect anyone to actually plan on using them of their own incintive? Of course not. They have their own characters and plans and story lines to worry about, and one little post on a thread isn't really going to change that. | |

| Okay, so: The Panopticon is semi-open source. It will be one of the main antagonists of Don't Let Them Tell Us Stories, but if you want it to appear in your blog - or be seen as monitoring runners or proxies - that's okay. (If you don't want to read the post explaining it then: the Panopticon is a think tank that was hired to figure out a solution to the increasing numbers of runners and proxies and the Slender Man; the result was that they said the Slender Man was a "meme-complex" and they had to develop a "counteracting meme-complex" - which is "This is the best of all possible worlds." It's basically Big Brother + Candide.) I also made three flyers for the Panopticon, in case anyone wants to use them (as something a character found or saw): One, Two, and Three. | |
