IT IS TIME TO TALK ABOUT BLOGS WE LIKE!

What are your favorite blogs? What kind of things do you like about them? What are current events that you find interesting? Any fan theories? Things you just want to gush about? Good blogs are good. So come on! Talk about them!

On that note, Strike the set just ended. Which is sad. Cuz it was an awesome blog. It was a really good ending though. It made me cry. Like a baby cutting onions.

Aye, I'm gonna miss it. I'm so honored to have been involved in the reveal of Rachael Very Happy

For other "Good Blogs" to discuss, I'd like to throw out Floccinaucinihilipilification. And I'd like to recommend that you re-read it as well. It's a quick read (60 posts, none of them particularly long), and once you know the story, it seems a LOT less random on the re-read.

And then other one I'd like to suggest is Nowhere, No One, Nothing. Srsly, this is the first blog to legitimately freak me out since Fabulous (which is also worth a read and I really wish would update again Sad). It's a bit of a different take on the usage of the Slender Man, not so much playing with the tropes that blogs/vlogs generally use as much as ignoring them to use its own, and it shows exactly WHY different takes aren't a bad thing.

EDIT: Also, this thread is probably a good idea. It'll generate more discussion than individual threads.

So, Bright Conundrum is pretty much the most adorable slenderblog ever, as expected of the girl who makes Coyote is Awesome.

I'd like to recommend Where My Eyes Remain, which is a short Slenderblog, yet very creepy. It uses an interpretation of the Slender Man not normally used - the "looks different to different people" version - but uses it well.

Yeah Strike the set was enjoyable and a good ending, anyway:

Oh gods, I'm terrible at making suggestions and narrowing choices.

Well everything that's been suggested so far are all good suggestions. Two(four if you count their sequels) of these are old blogs and probably have been read but still.

A Hint of Serendipity was the first blog I ever read so I'm always gonna mention that and its sequel blog Last Refuge of A Dangerous Man.

Eccentrically Bored and its sequel blog Hidden In The Trees are also fun to read. They also feature involvement from the Fears but Slender Man is a prime focus.

No Pressure = No Diamonds I find to be an enjoyable read too, the Silent Hillesque environments they go through during their stay in a hotel were done quite well especially.

And I've been quite enjoying the re-boot/Let's do the time warp agaaiiiin of Now I Shall Know You...Again so far. Reading the original blog isn't essential but it does help to understand what's going on more and to feel more for what's going on.

That's about all I can think of right now off the top of my head, god I'm bad at making suggestions.

Hm as for current events I find really interesting. Looking forward to seeing what happens now in Gargoyle's Blog now that he's out and about roaming the world. Things are sure to be changing now.

Fan theory: Little Kuriboh is the most skilled proxy out there, pulling off the "memetic weapon" nature of Slender Man better than anyone, increasing the list of victims.

.......what do you mean that doesn't count?

No mention of Dreams in Darkness? :<
A bit of it might be nostalgia factor as it was the first blog I ever read but it just did such a brilliant job of being interesting enough to hold my attention, loved the characters and plot, and etc etc; I just really liked it.

On the down side I wasn't a huge fan of dejavu dreamer or maleorderman but they were ok. And cool in that they were kinda..optional I guess you could say. Razz

I guess the reason we haven't mentioned it is just because it's so old. Dreams in Darkness is one of my favorite Slenderblogs, yes. I think I'd go as far as to say that it's the codifier for Slenderblogs. Sure, Just Another Fool was the first one and Seeking Truth is probably the most popular, but DiD's influence has been the furthest-reaching. Most of the Slenderblog structures since have been close to DiD's structure.

To be honest, everyone probably knows about it already but just in case for those who may be unaware and for the sake of mentioning it for the purposes of this topic.

The Video Finale for The Mystic uploaded to Dr. Cairo's account.

So to continue this topic properly with that video. Great ending to a great old blog, heavily enjoyed the portral of Zeke's damaged voice and that bit of insane laughing he done at times.

But more importantly I really enjoyed the way the tentacles were done at the end there. I spent the whole video looking at the back expecting something to appear there. Instead we get those fairly done well tentacles coming from the side and starting to pull him away before it cuts out. Camera was probably intentionally set up like that for that reason actually. Make you expect it to be from the back of the room.

I don't think there's much I can say about Seeking Truth/The Mystic that hasn't been said so many times in all these years. But for a new comment. It definitely had an enjoyable ending for me.

So to once agan get this topic used again.

Take the Myth is over. I was gonna give a detailed "what i enjoyed, what i didn't enjoy" kind of comment but every time I tried to write it out, it would turn into a massive post and I didn't want to take the chance of accidentally phrasing things badly and looking like an asshole. I have a strong habit of accidentally phrasing things badly.

So i'll just settle for summing up rapidly.

It was a well-written blog and I did enjoy it on a whole, I did feel like the crossovers became it's core which was good for scale purposes and Elaine's character type but bad because it overwhelmed any unique plot. But overall, despite some problems, I did enjoy it, the content was written well and so was the ending.

In other good blog news. I'm very interested on the whole Crisis Crossover plot going on right now. and by that I mean Redlight's return through Spencer and how that also caused Morningstar to be reborn. The way the posts have been wrote so far that involve Redlight. They've got a very creepy feel to them. Before he died, he was trying to CAUSE an apocalyptic danger...but with the way he's been wrote so far...it feels like HE'S the apocalyptic danger.

I'm still gonna make the usual joke that the mythos is like the Marvel and DC verses though. Death clearly doesn't take their job seriously. But all jokes aside, this actually looks like a believable and well made resurrection plot.

Yeah, this thing going on is really neat. Maybe it would be more cool if I hadn't known at least the Redlight part for months and months, but I hadn't expected the Morningstar thing, so it's still exciting. And it's more than just the return of two of the most popular non-Slender antagonists. It's also the death of many of the previously popular protagonists around the same time. The wind has changed and a storm is blowing in. I hope other bloggers tap into that and board up the windows or whatever metaphor fits here.
Then again, I probably won't know if they do because after these recent events my reading list is mostly proxyblogs. Anybody have some advice on how to fix that?

Not really, considering that there seem to be more and more proxyblogs popping up now. People just seem to find them more interesting to write for some reason.

Oh, my heart is a flutter.

I've never really seen a ton of discussion on this blog, but Introverted Bird is one of my favorite blogs of all time. It's incredibly well written and features some really compelling characters. The Slender Friend is, for the most part, an eerie protagonist, though recently the blog has taken an unexpected turn (with our narrator turning out to not be the narrator we thought...?). Unfortunately, updates have been slow over the past few months, with the last one occurring at the beginning of March. It's really lovely though.

here

and here

and also here.

They're pretty much the first main examples of Redlight's return. This isn't really crossovers in the standard sense of a a constant connection. It's more that Redlight IS the crossover device. He's the threat looming in the background that could show up whenever, wherever.
