I've been digging around SN but I couldn't find any relating to this, forgive me if I haven't been digging deep enough.

And also apologies for the seemingly stupid term to call the readers as civilians, heck, it's not war, but English is not my first language lol.

I have some questions on readers/followers:

1) I'm just wondering, for so many Slenderman Mythos-related bloggers out there, is there a chance that a reader is a 'civilian' reader?

2) Is it risky to plug these kinds of blogs to 'civilians'? If yes, what's the worse that could happen?

Thanks in advance. I'm really new at this so I'm trying to keep myself at the safe side here lol.

(I apologize a lot huh)

Hmm. Well, I'm not so sure what you're asking in the first one- are you asking whether or not a reader could potentially have no connection to the SlenderFandom?- but in the second, if the main narrator you're writing in your blog feels like they- or mankind- are in some kind of fight with Slenderman, then why not? It would be perfectly acceptable for them to consider people who aren't being haunted by Slenderman as 'out of the fight' or 'not part of the battle', and the best way to say that would be to call them civilians.

So, sure! If you want to do it, and it fits with your established characterization of who you're writing, go right ahead!

(By the way, your English is fantastic. I wouldn't have been able to tell at all that it wasn't your first language if you hadn't said anything.)

Let's take an example: Say the character is a person you could've run into in your daily life, a normal young girl who'd post crap about make-up and new clothes and boys. I'd imagine she'd have lots of plain 'civilian' readers no?

But then shit would happen to that character and that's when I start to worry about the 'civilian' readers, the ones who's having no connection whatsoever in the Slenderverse, know nothing about creepypasta and stuff. How would they react to that? Is it dangerous to pull such readers in?

Have you read Fabulous? Your example sounds like a description of that blog. In that one the 'civilians' stopped commenting (and probably reading too) when it went weird. Unless they were fake to start with, but I don't think so.
My opinion is that if your blog is convincing enough that you get 'civilian' readers, you should be proud. There's nothing bad about it. Either they just go away or they discover this whole genre. If you're really worried about them, you could probably contact them yourself to say that the blog is fiction.

Thanks Lero for putting that link up! God my fears are somewhat settled lol. At least I'm not trodding on unknown borders here. I'm used to personal blogging more than writing fiction blogs, so naturally things like this bother me as the readers might flip a table at me if I did something like that.

To Light a Candle got a civilian who followed the blog back when it was mostly about JCarlson's job. Not sure if they kept reading when it went obviously Fear Mythos because they never did comment. They never unfollowed though. I also got a comment or two that may have been from a civilian that didn't click follow.

Ahh, I had one such reader on mine. She even sent me a message on how tough it is raising a child and dealing with paranormal stuff at the same time. Her own blog was clearly a personal blog so I assumed she'd followed mine because it was also made to look like a personal blog. I just thanked her for the advice and support and kept going, I think she stopped following when she finally realized it was fiction.
