Porcelain Spiders

Several of you may have heard from this series and now i make a Thread for it on here, so we can discuss on a civil basis about the ARG.

So what is "Porcelain Spiders?"

"Porcelain Spiders" is about a young woman named Jane who was given a bunch of tapes by her friend Alexa. Alexa was filming a movie when she quit rather dramatically and out of nowhere, saying she wanted to burn the footage and never talk about it again. Jane talked Alexa into giving her the tapes to hold on to, but after a year without contact Jane decided to turn them into an independent study project. As she began to watch the footage, however, she started to learn what had actually been going on while she and her friends were filming.

"Porcelain Spiders" is a re-imagining of how the events of the YouTube series Marble Hornets would come to pass if the identities of the characters were different. While planning to make their own slenderseries with a focus on diversity and representation, the cast and crew were told that fans of the genre didn't want more diversity because "it doesn't matter/won't change anything" and "any attempt at it will be obvious and feel shoehorned"; as if diverse casting was somehow both pointlessly unnoticeable and obnoxiously noticeable at the same time.

"Porcelain Spiders" allows the cast and crew to create their own brand new, fully unique ARG while also demonstrating why casting and character identities matter. They decided to do a re-make of an existing series because they want the audience to see the strings. They want people to be able to catch subtle characterization, plot and dialog decisions while also realizing that underrepresented identities can play out just as naturally as those in the original. In short, the decision to do a re-make allows people to compare and contrast, which you can feel free to do on this wiki.

NOTE: The cast and crew of Porcelain Spiders DO NOT THINK MARBLE HORNETS DID ANYTHING “WRONG.” This project is 50% meta demonstration of how naturally a diverse cast can fit into the genre and 50% homage to the series that started it all.

Not many series are really creative with the names (just look at the MANY series where at least 1 of the characters has the name Alex )

I personally think it's a neat idea. The idea of purposefully remaking a Slenderseries is a pretty original idea.

I hope they amp up the original stuff soon bu I really am liking it though

Sorry I got quiet again. I’m still fine in case you were worried. I just wanted to let you all know that I finally remembered which nursing school Tammy went to (I think) so I have a coworker trying to look her up for me on Facebook since I don’t have one. Nothing’s come up yet but I told him it’s pretty important so he’s willing to message a student or two to ask about her. I gave him a screen shot of her from Entry #9; hopefully that helps. He’s doing it in exchange for me covering two of his shifts though, so expect me to either be in class, at work or asleep for pretty much all this week.
