Podcast feedback: Blog segment Empty
PostSubject: Podcast feedback: Blog segment   Podcast feedback: Blog segment EmptyThu Oct 13, 2011 12:59 am

Okay, as I'm sure many of you know, there are quite a few blogs. Those of you who listen to the podcast know that I try to cover some briefly, but covering every single blog (even just every single blog I read) is pretty much impossible, considering that every day probably about five blogs update. Compare that to vlogs, where there can be weeks of silence. So I need your feedback. What blogs do you want me to cover? What blogs would you be interested in hearing about?

Now, keep in mind that there are some vague prerequisites. I don't know what sort of response I'll get to this, so there are a few things to keep in mind. You can suggest anything, but chances are, I'll be more likely to cover it if it falls under the following:

1. It has to be fairly well-known, or a sequel to/continuation of a blog that's fairly well-known. I can cover some more obscure blogs now and then, but for the most part, I don't want to have to explain the whole blog for the sake of a single update. I've read a lot of blogs, and I kind of know what's well-known and what isn't. If I've never even heard of the blog, chances are that no one else has heard of it either.

2. It has to be active. Maybe on occasion we'll cover a completed blog, but that would require the majority of the podcast having read it.

3. I have to have read it. I'll look into requests that I recognize and I'll cover them eventually, but I can't talk about something I haven't read.

4. It has to be quality. This is, of course, subjective, but if the blog goes bad and starts to lose followers/gain a hatedom, chances are that people don't want to hear about it.

Thank you for your feedback!

Fabulous is more fun than you would think (unfortunately I can't link yet, google Fabulous Fiona and you should find it). On the surface it looks like Slendy fangirl bullshit about a girl who thinks he's her "prince" but it's pretty clear he's screwing her up bad and she can't even see it. In someways it can be seen as a metaphor about an abusive relationship. I also enjoy Konaa's blog but you might find it too actiony for your tastes.

Are you only interested in doing Slenderblogs or can we recommend Fear blogs as well?

Thanks for the feedback! Fabulous is a blog that we've been covering, and I'm very familiar with it (the blog is actually in my top 5, so you don't have to convince me of its quality). Thanks for the confirmation.

Also, anyone else reading this, providing feedback would be GREATLY appreciated....

Hm, quite difficult to choose for this really.

You've already mentioned Fabulous on podcasts and again here so that's already a given.

The Mystic has been mentioned before on the podcast so I suppose that doesn't even need mentioning and with it getting closer to its endgame, it's bound to get covered anyway.

Maybe the Delmont Blogs? Considering the whole now finished Redlight plot, they've been a key part of the Mythos for a while. Since everything is kicking back up in them again now, it seems like the right time to mention them.

I normally would suggest Don't Shoot The Messenger just due to the reporting on deaths getting that pretty well-known, plus everything else going on with it.

Buuuuut with it being your own blog, that might make it a little awkward for you.

Sadly, I can't really think of much to suggest as I'm not sure what qualifies as well-known and what isn't and the follower count doesn't portray that too accurately.

Delmont Blogs are the only proper suggestion I can think of.

Well, choosing to cover my blog myself would be a different matter. I'd humbly accept it as a suggestion.

The Delmont Blogs were, in fact, one I was considering. I'll probably be going through and making a list of possible candidates in the next day or two that people could confirm or deny being interested in hearing about.

Okay, here's a list I've got so far.

Blogs I know I will be covering:

The Mystic
The Tutorial
Watching Chaucer Write (the sequel to Make it Count)
The Delmont Blogs (Get Your Game Face On, Time to Talk, The Eleventh Hour)
Fabulous

Blogs I am considering covering:

H(a)unting (notable, even if it's polarizing)
Don't Shoot The Messenger
Little Lion Man
Trembling Dice
Shut Up, Jeremy
Take the Myth

Are there any other suggestions? Sequels to well-known blogs that are still ongoing? Well-known blogs I may have missed?

Seems fine to me, my mind's a blank for anything else so that seems okay to me.

I suppose you could give H(a)unting a go and see how it's taken, if people like hearing about it or not and then go from there. Haven't actually read Trembling Dice or Shut up, Jeremy yet so will be nice to hear about them.

So yeah, I'd say it looks good for now unless others think of some more. All you can do at least is try them and see how they take.

Records of an Impossibility, A Wand and a Prayer, and I Am Stardust/11 Minutes to Midnight?

Neglecting the Sage blogs, how horrible. /shakes head in shame

Of course! How terrible of me!

It's probably because I haven't finished reading any of them that I forgot about them. Yes, those are now at the top of my reading list and will be added to the "definitely will cover" list once I'm caught up.

Oh yeah, how did I forget to mention that too? The Sages would be vital to cover.

Although with how much content is in Records of An Impossibility, you may or may not have to go into detail with your explanations. Or find a way to make it simple and short.

Oh, shoot, one I forgot to mention: Another one on the "possible" list is Risk a blog written by Shaun (the former Sage), since 1. I've enjoyed it so far and 2. it sort of ties in with The Tutorial.

Could you do a podcast on my blog, now that it is In-game? I know that it seems like I'm self-promoting again ("Gasp, 20Dollaz self-promotes," the users say sarcastically), but I want Slender-Fans that have heard of me to know that I'm not just the creator of the shitty NEFR blog, and that I'm actually TRYING this time.

1. We will not do an entire podcast on your blog. We don't even spend a whole podcast on Marble Hornets. The blogs generally get shafted as it is, because I'm about the only person in the podcast who reads them and the podcast segment for the blogs is usually just a rundown of updates.

2. Please read this again:

If you're going to be suggesting your own blog, I'm going to be a lot more hesitant about giving updates for it. If other people want to hear about updates on your blog, they'd let me know themselves.

Hey. Hey. Hey Annnnndy.
/shot
I don't know; been told that "Return to Slender is pretty damn unique/ popular, but I'm not sure if I'd wish an over 100 post and still growing archive on anyone.

(also for the record 23 Seconds is still active >.<; )

Though I'm not too sure if you're current; either way, I've done my shameless self promotion for the day. <3

As for suggestions? Hm. Strike the Set is a favourite of mine and gets a significance point for helping to end Schrody's blog. I'd second Risk Death as the vlog posts are actually really, really good, and ObscuredCamera has an interesting narrative. Aside from that, I've got nuthin. :3
