Does anyone play an instrument?

So, I'm pretty much a huge band geek. I always like hearing what other people play and how much they love it. So... anyone?

This is my 6th year playing the flute in concert band. 3rd year playing in jazz band on said flute, 1st year playing in the pit band for the spring musical. And 1st year of marching band.

All on said flute. XD

My Dad was a pretty huge band geek, he played the tuba, and was even in the Greater Miami Symphony for two years. My mom played the clarinet. My sister played the tuba too, was first chair in her highschool and 3rd chair in some awesome regional competition thing to boot.

The musical gene completely rolled right on by me though. I once tried picking up one of my dad's trumpets (he dabbles in nearly every instrument in the brass section) but even with his coaching I was still so bad that it was hilarious. I later tried guitar but failed at that too. My fingers just aren't nimble and I have no sense of rhythm.

The sad part is that I can read music pretty well, and I understand that some musicians even have trouble with that, and prefer playing by ear.

Still, band people are some of my favorite people to hang out with. You all know how to straddle the line between being enormous nerds (nerds with muscles and tans during the summer. marching season is craaaazy. You can always spot the band kids by noticing how much they've changed since concert season.) and still having a lot of fun.

I am a master of the Cowbell as well as the Triangle.
Note this is not a troll i can actually play those instruments very well

I played Trombone for a few years in grade school, so did my brother. After that, I picked up Trumpet in middle school, and played it all the way through high school in concert band. Haven't touched it since High School, I miss it though.

GameGal: That's awesome! The flute's pretty cool. I know a little bit on the flute, but its definitely not my forte. (Lol, notice my little music pun.)
Vivi: That's unfortunate! My father was a drummer and my mom was a singer. I suppose music in general is a "talent" of mine. I can read, play, pick up random things and learn how to play them. Its pretty cool, I guess, but kind of useless. xD But yes, band people are completely awesome. Marching season, I'd say, is the worst possible time for us bandies. So much stress!

Man me too! Me and KB both play clarinet in the school band! We have our christmas concert tonight at 7 and I'm really excited. My GF plays snare and basically all my friends are in band.

I am desperetly trying to learn the guitar but with the abscence of lessons. My brother's also desperetly trying to form an experimental metal.

I've been playing various instruments since I was a wee child of five, so I play a lot. Sax, Guitar, Drums, Banjo, Bass, Keyboards, and the Melodica, the most awesomely obscure instrument of all time

While the melodica is indeed obscurely awesome, I know of an instrument that is both more obscure AND often more awesome.

I present to you, the theremin.

Ceb: Oh, I play so much stuff too! I play tenor sax mostly. In the saxophone department, that is. I play it for pep band, marching band, and the local community college jazz band. I'm not too much in percussion, though. D: I do enjoy playing the keyboard/piano and guitar, though! I completely understand. Though I have to say I don't really know a Melodica player! Nice to finally meet one. (:

Also! (I'm a double-posting demon, sorry.) The high school band I'm in leaves tomorrow for Disney World! Concert Bass Clarinet like a boss! I also get to sing in the Candlelight Procession. My voice and my lungs will take a huge beating, but its completely worth it! If anyone ever has a chance to go play in Disney, by all means, do so! Or even see a Disney show. This will be my second time performing there and all of it is just so amazing. Watching it, performing in there. Its truly magical. Even though he was a Nazi, he knows how to make one hell of a theme park.

I play the guitar, the trombone, and of course, the humble kazoo.

Guitar is completely lovely. Trombones are pretty dang cool. I could never play one. I'm not a brass junkie. xD And ah, the kazoo. <3

I've played Euphonium since Gr.7, but I dropped out of school band after concert band, since I didn't have the time for it anymore. I miss being in a big band though, it's fun times. Plus all the buzzing prevented chapped lips :p
At the present time, I'm trying to learn guitar on my own, like Machine Gun Cynic

SO many instruments. My whole family is musicians, and my mom used to teach piano... and trumpet, and saxophone, and clarinet and flute. I took all of those except trumpet, and I also took drums... lol.

The one I played longest (aside from piano, which I still play) was flute, but not for a while now. I also sing opera like a mofo.

I'm an amateur guitarist. Everyone in my town is, it seems, somewhat proficient with a guitar. Other than that, nothing much. I would really like to learn to play violin and cello, but money is a factor.

I play guitar, which I love, and I've played Flute, the 'Baby Tuba', Clarinet, and Violin. I can sing pretty well too.

Well, I mainly play the trombone, but also dabble in trumpet, euphonium, tuba, french horn (The polar opposites of the brass section), vuvuzela, violin, ukelele, saxophone (this is getting tiresome...), cello, piano, kazoo, drumset, and (embarrassingly enough) flute.
Also, at this very moment, I am typing this with a guitar on my lap.
Obviously I have too much free time.

I sing tenor, and I normally sound like I belong in a hipster band when I sing. At least I think I do. Tiro's the only one here who knows how I sing, so... xD
Invidias: It seems guitar is a popular thing! It is fun, though, I don't blame anyone. I really want to get into cello. I play violin, and... well, its very difficult. But once you get the hang of it its actually fun and sounds just plain gorgeous. Any string instrument sounds amazing, though.

I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum, I'm a coloratura soprano and could probably break glass... although I've never tried. XD
