Spoiler:
The Rake at the beginning scared me. o_o
For some reason I didn't register that as "not human", replayed the scene, and jumped right out of my chair when I saw that it wasn't a human head.
Poor Alex.
Spoiler:
That Sparky sock puppet is kind of creepy. But in a it-shouldn't-be-creepy-but-it-still-is way
I really like the video. It made the wait worth it.

To me, it wasn't worth the wait at all, but it was still a solidly enjoyable entry.
Spoiler:
I like that they're sticking with the theme that Alex can't grieve normally. I really thought that sparky's death was too abrupt and seemingly consequenceless. Alex's grieving issues are one of the things that I am both still interested in and can keep track of. I really hope it comes back as a Chekhov's gun or something.
By the way, I'm stupid and blind, somebody please give me the timestamp for the rake because no matter how many times I replay the parts I think he might be in, I'm just not seeing it. Subtlety is lost upon me, apparently.
I have one issue: Wasn't Daniel dead? Unless I'm mixing him up with ANOTHER redshirt, I thought he was the guy that was Habit's first rabbit...

That was Ryan. Daniel played Fake!Slendy in the early videos, If I remember correctly.

No, Daniel had simply disappeared from the videos. Some people following the series thought Slender Man got him.
Alex,
Spoiler:
The sock puppet, I felt, was only creepy in a forced kind of way. I knew and have accepted that Alex has serious issues overcoming loss. The tapes were a stretch, but the oddity of it existing gave it some psychotic edge which solidified my disturbing feelings. The puppet seemed rushed and goofy-looking. I had to make the conscious effort to suspend disbelief to make it creepy, rather than my immersion just accept it.

First of all...
Spoiler:
Love, love, LOVE the Rake footage. It made me yell and laugh and scared the crap out of me all at the same time. I must of rewatched that small part 3 times before I let the rest of it go.
Second of all...
Spoiler:
The Alex crazy is different here. The way Alex describes "Sparky" it seems like he knows the real dog is dead but replaced it with a sock puppet. Unlike the audio tape of his mom which he was totally unaware of. I have to wonder what Alex's role in all of this is. Since there is no mention of an Alex in the Mining Town Four, perhaps his crazyness is part of the plan to keep him apart from them. If Alex ever gets killed, I'm afraid Jeff is going to pull an Evan.
Third of all...
Spoiler:
They keep focusing on this black box and frankly I really wish they would get to the point with that. Other than an a possible, impromptu time machine what other purpose can it serve. If we are really suppose to keep remembering this box then give us some insite into it please. Having said that I'm not terribly good at keeping up with the other non video related plot associated with EMH. So perhaps that question has already be answered.
Note to self: Always put your emergency machete next to the first aid box.

Black Box
Spoiler:
For the black box thing, I'm not sure what to think of it. I heard one theory that it detects Slender Man, but that's... too useful. An almost dues ex machina if you will.
Eric, Daniel never disappeared, he just wasn't with them for the time being.
As for the rake footage, I fucking loved it. It was so feral and disturbingly guttural.
Spoiler:
Did anyone notice Evan was licking the blood of the deer of his fingers. He's really going off the deep end. Me gusta.

Spoiler:
That, and the bit where his voice sort of drops when Jeff says he tried to pull him off did seem rather odd, even for him. I really don't doubt that he is HABIT at this point, but seeing it on-screen is terrifying nontheless.
I'm starting to worry about Vince, too.
Spoiler:
I wasn't all that surprised by Evan's emergency machete, but I really wasn't expecting Vince to pull out an axe and go lumberjack charging into danger right behind him.

If you ask me, these two videos were well worth the wait.
This is just the best series to me, in terms of atmosphere, acting, the depth of the mystery..

I'm with Crusergirl and Vivi. I'm one of those Pleblians who just really can't follow EMH. Too many different facets of the story for me to keep track of. I'd have to be more obsessed than I am to really try.
On that note, this entry (and the hidden video attached to it) was a tad confusing, and with the long wait for the new update, I'm so out of the story I had really remind myself of how immersed I was supposed to be.
However, it was a solid entry in many respects.
Spoiler:
For example, they've definitely improved the rake so that he's more than just a naked albino in the woods. I'm not quite sure what they used for that suit, but it looked pretty good. It helped that it was dark though. There are some good plot twists and nice little subtleties. I think Vince is starting to crack just a tad, as his normally calm, mary-jane personality seems to be giving way. I wouldn't exactly normally expect Vince to be the one with the axe.
Also, the clear demonstation of Even being, as we all know, increasingly psychotic is always fun.

Mr. Jeebles, I meant disappeared from video in the sense a minor character disappears from a play. Off-stage until needed, if at all. Congrats on becoming a moderator, by the way.
I re-watched it with the newest video in mind and I got thinking.
Spoiler:
With Evan officially recognized by the others to have a split personality, what if HABIT/(aggressive personality [AP]) is the base personality? Instead of Evan cracking up and going off the deep end, what if "Evan" was Corenthal's attempt to control [AP]? It would explain why there seems to be a pretty recent (relatively 2000s) photograph of Evan with the Doctor and Evan not knowing about it. Only [AP] dealt with the doctor.
That was actually pretty weaksauce. I don't know how to explain it.

It took me a minute this morning to understand that I was seeing was Rake footage at the beginning. Extremely creepy... I've been trying to cap a good pic of it, no luck so far.
Spoiler:
Is it just me, or can you actually pinpoint when Evan starts to slip? He's fine, he's fine, he's fine... it's starting and... Boom, he's creepy nuts again. I loved the emergency machete, I think everyone kind of expected it from him. But who here thought Vince would go for the freaking Ax? Holy crap dude, took you long enough to grow a pair. Evan must be rubbing off on him.
Spoiler:
The dog sock puppet was not creepy, it was just freaking sad. I know why Jeff won't get him help. Alex uses the recordings and puppet to cope, but Alex is Jeff's way to cope. He couldn't protect his parents from what I believe to be a Slendy attack, so he has to keep his little brother around.
I don't understand the Hiker Fiend thing, can someone fill me in please? Thank you.

Hiking Fiend was (in my opinion) a well done Slender Story that can be found here: http://hikingfiend.tumblr.com/ It followed a hiker who learns a little too much about local folklore and suffers from it when it turns out to be more than a story.
As an April 1st joke, the author put out this tumblr: http://ahikingdeer.tumblr.com/ It tells the tale of a courageous and loving deer who lived in the forest where Hiking Fiend took place. Hilarity ensues.

I can see that happening. When Evan was in the orphanage and under the care of Corenthal, he would only go by the name of HABIT. And more than once did he enjoy killing bunnies and other animals.

The Black Box is an EMF (ElectroMagnetic Field) Detector. Very smart thing to have for something that can just appear and vanish like Slendy and Rake.

How do you know that? And since when has anyone been aware or heard of electromagnetic fields? I'm not saying your wrong, I'd just like some sources because to me it sounds like you pulled that out of your ass.
EDIT: This is all in retrospect to the mythos. I didn't make that clear.

EMF Detectors are used a ton in paranormal investigations. Just look at any typical episode of Ghost Adventures or Ghost Hunters. Both groups use them.

Never watched those shows. I think it's all cheap bullshit. I'm a non believer, Shun me! I do like the theory that it might be able to detect him, but I don't think it's with electromagnetivity. For a paranormal creature, Slender Man is so far our of the "normal" paranormal range and I don't think something simple like that would work. It's too easy.

It could work in the same manner as the radio from the Silent Hill series. It goes off but it doesn't give any general direction or other information. Just says "Hey watch out because Slendy's here to fuck your shit up."

Really Jeebs? I thought that EMFs were pretty common knowledge. Especially among our type of crowd. (The kind of people who wonder about the things that go bump in the night.)

Electromagnetic fields have only been proven to trip up the human body. I forget what it is exactly, but when an area has a high EMF rating, it tends to produce feelings of paranoia and being watched in people. EMFs are just causing by electrical wiring in the area, coinciding with other electrical wiring in odd ways. All of it is merely a physiological side effect cause by the physical environment of an area.
I don't watch ghost hunting shows either (I am also a skeptic.) but I can only imagine that they use them on those shows to explain WHY people feel weird, peculiar, and creeped upon in certain areas of buildings. I can't imagine anybody seriously claiming that the EMFS are actually due to the paranormal. (Its like saying crazy people exist BECAUSE of psychiatric wards, not the other way around.) But then again, I don't watch those shows enough to know whether they're actually investigating or trying to validate their beliefs in the paranormal.
/off topic.
In the end, Slender Man aint' no poltergheist. I'm not sure how I feel about EMFs brought into this.

I had heard of them, but I was talking in retrospect to the mythos. I mentioned it because no ones ever used them before to my knowledge. I should have made that more clear. I'm aware of what they are, however I was unaware that they cause paranoia. Thanks for that Vivi.
