Entry #57 Discussion

Better than the last entry IMO. Now that the tapes are over with hopefully some answers will start popping up.

I have a question about entry 56. Why did Alex attack Tim. Was it because he knew Tim was a maskie or some other strange reason.

It's just a thoery (that in my opinion could possibly be true), but when Alex saw the operator symbol, apparently his demeaner changed. Perhaps, the operator symbol was our beloved Slendy's way of controlling Alex. In another topic someone suggested that this was where Tim was claimed and became "Masky." The tapes are out of order so it is possible. AND this was during the filming of Marble Hornets, toward the end I'm guessing since Alex is being psyco, so it does show where "Masky" showed up during the story. So, I don't think Alex knew Tim was Masky because Tim wasn't Maksy as of then. Slendy controlled Alex to beat him so Slendy could claim him. This is JUST a theory, but I believe it is very probable. Maybe more will be revealed in the next couplde of videos.

Now the theory about the Operator Symbol being a "trigger" that makes Alex go ape shit is...far fetched to me. Think back to the first season. You literally see Alex draw the operator symbol (Entry #8 he's drawing on a desk with papers that have them on it) Then in Entry #11 you see he has them hanging on his wall... So I don't think he would intentionally keep himself in his "chaotic" or "slave" state (whatever you wanna call it) by surrounding himself with the symbols, while he is hiding from the operator (Like he is in Entry #11). It just doesn't make sense.

I think that the operator symbol is a target that shows where the slenderman will appear next and the slenderman uses it as a type of transportation.So he gets his slaves to draw it for him

"The Hobo Code" includes a symbol that is almost identical to the operator symbol. My theory is that The Operator has something to to with the code seeing as the "Safe Camp" symbol is tagged on the house Tim and Alex enter before 57. This is all highly unlikely and probably a coincidence. Just search google for The Hobo Code.

I figured the Operator can only teleport through images of himself, such as camera images, and the Operator symbol serves as an effigy in the case that he can't use his normal means.

I don't mean to be rude, but I believe we have a topic for the Operator symbol and all theories corresponding to it should go there. There aren't any Operator symbols in 57, anyway (so far as I can tell).

As far as the episode itself goes, I had two major observations.

First and foremost, I'm feeling less and less that Alex is controlled by the Operator as much as the Operator somehow draws out Alex's worse qualities. I never got the feeling TO had long-term control over someone, and this episode occurs hours after Alex attacks Tim in #56. I'm starting to think Alex's bad behavior is a result of the paranoia TO induces and not because of TO pulling his strings. I do think that there must be some kind of pay-off TO gets from the paranoia, perhaps turning Alex into something not unlike himself? I mean, the facelessness of TO may start off as something more metaphorical like losing all the things that make you someone such as friends/ethics/etc. Not sure. Just no longer believe Alex's attacks are happening because TO forces him to.

Second, I wasn't originally sold on this but I definitely think Tim recalls everything. In most of the videos we see Tim he's kind of awkward and nervous seeming in a fairly extreme way. Yet when Jay runs into him and asks questions/receives the videos he's pretty level. My thought is he is acting as if he's calm in order to make Jay not realize he knows what he does. Reason being he doesn't know what Jay knows, and thats why he gives him the videos. If nothing else its a good ice breaker to bringing up the fact that Alex might of tried harming all the crew.
