Redlight goes Canon

Redlight just got a plotlight on him in Zeke's new blog. Hurray for that. now Redlight is officially Canon.

Robert wanted me to tell peeps that they're allowed to use him in their blogs (just try not to get overboard with it)

Here's the specifics

He is malevolent. Wears a red hoodie. May or may not be Jay. (Probably isn't). Has an exceptional amount of free will, and while he's not above beating people to pulps, he's not a killer. Can't be a killer. His job is to kill the soul of the Runners and the Core THeory. Reduce us all to huddling in the forest, not burning it down. He'll bargain, threaten, cajole, deal, lie, and trick anyone.

So keep that in mind. I'm just tickled that a character I named, and Robert created ended up in one of the earlier blogs.

Huh. And here I was thinking he was secretly a good guy, "releasing" bloggers from the memories of this and the like.

That was pretty much Jossed when WE showed that his wipe doesn't really exclude you from seeing Slendy (and thus being truly free by being totally ignorant of his presence like before).

well his deal is that he's wanting us to stop rebelling more than 'saving' us. If he stops the resistance, things go back to how they've been forever....

I know Zeke and have read all of his blogs on Seeking Truth, but I have no idea about this other sites and whatnot.

well, I consider Zeke to be more canon than anything at my 'level' so it was more of an upgrade in canon

here's hoping Redlight well. He's lost too many struggles recently, and while I enjoy Robert, I wish for Redlight to win this one.

This new canon character can't become a shmuck only a few weeks after permission is given for him to be used. He's got to maintain genre saaviness, and when necessary, breaking the fourth wall.

He needs a win, seriously.

As for Redlight, yep. Robert sort of...let him out as an open-source villan

Is it just me, or did Redlight's description of himself sound a little like a Kingdom Hearts character? XD

His plans are really interesting but I can't spoiler them and it's killing me inside. >>

I worry about the use of redlight. He had an interesting thing going for him but I'm nervous we're going to get another Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain and the blogs don't need any more of those.

Basically, he needs a big win. And though I have no idea what would happen after, lobotomizing Robert might be the only solution.

I hope there are some big plans for him. I'd hate to see such a character go to waste...

Hmm. I think I've got a guess at what that means...

personally, I don't mind a few notable villains. I know if i had a chance to keep Rika around as my antagonist, I would've. I just don't like how he's popping up very rapidly, from one gambit to another. Then again maybe it's all a Xanatos gambit.

Redlight's biggest trait is him being genre saavy, IMO he needs to show up sparsely, as the 'big stick' of the blogs, to thwap people who have lost their minds, and to steer them back on course.

Gambits aren't necessarily bad, what those do is evoke emotion from the bloggers, which, so long as they have interest, can't be a bad thing right?

All in all though, gambits, in all their forms are just a type of stunt to keep attention. Usable in small amounts, and although sometimes specacular when several hit at once, they shouldnt' be overused.

Well, Redlight's in the background now, and he's left the Creepy Child in charge. I think it's been pulled off well - stops him from being overused, at least for now, while making things nice and tense. Can't wait to see what's next.

In other news, not sure how many of you guys saw, but the man behind Zeke Strahm recently released Fisk for use as a public domain character, much like Redlight. I'm freaking stoked, because I've always liked Fisk, even though I only really had two blog posts to go from and pieced the rest together in my head. But I have high hopes for his use as a villain. As long as people do their research on the FBI and don't make him a stereotypical Man in Black. I hate cliches like that...

And here's the first thing I thought of when I read Redlight's description of himself:

That, dear sirs and madams, is a (very) minor character from The World Ends With You. Which Jay mentioned on his first blog post. Therefore, Redlight is Jay. [/trollogic]
