What's with all the roleplays?

Like, they're all I ever see on the "latest topics" bar.

Kind of getting sick of seeing them there. This isn't a roleplay site, it's a forum. You guys are spamming the site with your roleplays, just stick with one for crying out loud. It ISN'T that hard.

Well there is a new one up now (btw it's never to late to join X3)

I'd rather not join in on any of them.

Most of them are too far in, and I really don't want to spend an hour catching up.

I do agree that there are a lot of role-play topics, although it doesn't bother me much. People only make videos every so often from what I see, and people can do other things especially while we're waiting on them videos. Also, I will say that there is a roleplay section for a reason, and I'm glad to see all sections of this forum being used.

I couldn't have put it better myself. I understand that you get tired of seeing roleplays in the latest topics. It's just something you either put up with or not. I, for one, am glad to see this many people interested in a roleplay, does my inner DM proud.

I don't know. That doesn't seem really fair to the users who want to run their own roleplay and have their own spin on a great story. I remember, back in the early days [/oldfag], we had only one. A Night in Ottawa. It was well received by many of the users, and I think that it would be a great roleplay to bring back. I'd love to do that myself as the one roleplay, but I think we should wait till the others are done.

I like that there are roleplays, even if I don't jump in on them, I think they're great. But I'm an avid rper, and so its nice to see something that makes me feel welcomed. Even if I don't take a part of it.

 I don't agree with this. I feel having only one roleplay would limit creativity and would discourage people from using that section of the forum.

Most of the roleplays are very similar though.

Forum based RP's need careful structuring so they don't end up convoluted, retarded, or ruined because one poster disappears. I'm a Mod over at MMX9.com and I can tell you from 4 years of RP experience, you better have a good system established.

^ I agree with Lumine here. A sort of structure is needed for these things so they don't end up with three posts, then dead because someone lost interest or what have you. Lumine, with your experience, I think you and I should talk about how to set something like this up, if you've got the time.

I've got to be honest, I love that there's so many RPs around, but there's a real lack of structure. I'd play here but I don't have time.

If the roleplayers on the site want to talk to me about structuring, I can give them some advice via PM or skype.

First and foremost, you need an application. A simple set of guidelines to help create characters. Next, a good idea is to establish a way to keep track of in-game events. Thirdly, a system to monitor storylines and how they progress. The big difference between this RP and the RP's I participate in is that they have Mods being able to keep track of it. Specific RP mods, not something I'm saying the RP needs however it's just an idea.

I'd say you're going for a right grasp, but we had our RP an entire subsection, with separate topics for locations. We also had Mods to approve character profiles and story ideas. Detail is good, but more is also less. You're not writing a novel, but don't make one-liner posts.

I'm in agreement here. We should get some order and structure in the section.

Being involved with Roleplays myself, I agree some structure is needed for sure but guys you have to realize that some of us REALLY enjoy doing RP's so just because it annoys you to see the little 'RP Game' title doesn't really mean you should kill all of our fun... just sayin. It was mentioned before and I will say it again, videos don't come out that often so RPing is a good way to
