| Ohgodthissoundsawesome. Now I have yet another RPG to add to my list.
Also, the fact that it uses the WoD system is just making this sound better and better.

| Going to be starting the game itself around Wednesday; if you want to play, and haven't created a character sheet, WELL THEN STOP SITTING AROUND AND CREATE A CHARACTER SHEET YA LAZY BUMS! | |

| Character sheets just need a few minor modifications before they're all ready, and we can start the game. Going to explain some of the rules which the players may need here (Since we can't really have everyone read and memorize the rulebook, I'm trying to minimize things y'all need to learn to the basics, while I'll handle most of the mechanical stuff in the background) 10 Again, Chance Rolls, and Dramatic Failures: - Spoiler:
When rolling dies to determine number of successes, any die which comes up with an 8, 9, or 10 counts as a success. But whenever you get a 10, not only does that count as a success, you get to roll another die on top of the others you rolled. If that die is a ten, you get another success, plus another die added to your roll; theoretically, it's possible to get a ridiculously high number of successes if you keep rolling 10s. Chance rolls are whenever your character is in a situation where, due to whatever reasons, negative modifiers have reduced the die pool to 0 (Say your Dexterity+firearms equals 3, but your character has a -3 penalty due to both arms being broken). With a chance roll, a single die is rolled. Only a 10 counts as a success on a chance roll. If, however, you get a 1 on a chance roll, that's a dramatic failure. And at that point, it becomes my duty, as the GM, to screw you over in the most creatively painful way I can imagine.
EXP - Spoiler:
Diverging a bit from the official rules because we're playing on a forum. I will award characters EXP every 50 pages. New dots can be bought with exp points; the table for the costs is: Attribute: New dots x5 Skill: New dots x3 Skill Specialty: 3 points Merit: New dots x2 Morality: New dots x3
Example: You want to raise your character's dexterity from 3 to 4. 4x5=20, thus it takes 20 EXP to buy the fourth dot of an attribute.
Health/Damage - Spoiler:
There are three types of damage: Bashing, Lethal, and Aggravated. Bashing is blunt trauma, lethal is piercing or cutting, and aggravated is supernatural damage. If a character takes equal to their health in bashing damage, any more bashing damage after that counts as lethal. If they take equal to their health in lethal, any more bashing or lethal damage counts as aggravated. A character dies when they have aggravated damage equal to their health. Whenever all of a character's health boxes are marked with damage (even if it's only bashing), every action they take from then on requires a roll for them to remain conscious. If all the health boxes are filled with lethal or aggravated, then every minute which the character does not receive medical attention converts a point of lethal damage to aggravated. Over time, health will recover on its own, starting with the least severe wounds, going to the most severe. A point of bashing damage is removed every 15 minutes, a point of lethal is removed every 2 days, and a point of aggravated is removed every 2 weeks. This can vary depending on medical attention given.
Morality - Spoiler:
All characters start with a morality of 7 (max is 10). Morality can be lowered by being an unpleasant person. When a character performs an immoral action, they may have to make a morality roll (whether or not they do depends on their current morality; a character with high morality would need to make a roll for something as little as being selfish, while a character with low morality has to do horribly monstrous things to necessitate a morality roll). If the character succeeds, their morality remains; however, if they fail, their morality drops, and they must make another roll. This roll is a derangement roll; if they fail, the character gains a derangement (some form of insanity, such as paranoia, schizophrenia, etc.) If a character's morality drops to 0, they are considered to be so inhumanly monstrous that they become no longer playable.
Sprinting - Spoiler:
If you want your character to run really really fast, they may double their speed for a single turn; however, they can perform no other action that turn.
Willpower - Spoiler:
All characters have willpower based on their resolve+composure. The maximum number for willpower is 10. Willpower points can be spent for two reasons: 1. A single point of willpower may be spent do add 3 more dice to a roll (cannot be used on morality or derangement rolls) 2. A point of willpower may be spent to add 2 to your characters stamina, resolve, composure, or defense when resisting physical, mental, or emotional attacks. Points of willpower may be regained, either through getting your character a full night's rest, achieving a character's personal goal, or indulging in your character's virtue/vice in a way which affects gameplay.
Boxing - Spoiler:
This really only applies to shusshoku, since he needs to know the fancy techniques having three points in boxing gives him. 1. Whenever the character inflicts an amount of damage equal to or greater than the opponent's size (5, for average humans), the opponent loses their next action. 2. When being attacked by a brawl-based attack, defense is calculated with the highest of dexterity or wits, instead of lowest. 3. Your character may make two brawl-based attacks in a single action; however, the second attack suffers from a -1 penalty, and he cannot use his defense stat against the opponent's next attack.
Dodging - Spoiler:
At any point while fighting, you may declare that your character is going to spend the round of combat dodging. This doubles their defense, but means you cannot make any actions during the round.

| The difference between an RP and an RPG:
The internet seems to have a bad habit of using these terms interchangeably, so I really should have predicted people getting confused. RP's (Role Plays) and RPG's (Role Playing Games) are actually two different things; there are many similarities, but both are played with very different systems.
The role of the player is likely the largest difference between the two. In an RP, the player's are treated like collaborating storytellers; they control what happens in the setting, the actions of their character, and how the setting reacts to those actions. In an RPG, the players only control their character, while all other factors are handled by the GM.
For example, here we have the same situation, one as an RP and the other as an RPG.
RP: John Smith carefully opened the old door, and looked out. There was a long, grey corridor, stretching down the building. John slowly walked down the hall, feet disturbing dust which had lain untouched for years. Suddenly a shadow passed in front of him; John pulled out his handgun and fired three shots down the hallway, hitting the wall.
RPG: Player: I open the door and look out it. GM: You see a long, grey corridor, stretching down the building. Player: Slowly walk down the hallway. GM: You cross half the hallway, feet disturbing dust which had lain untouched for years. Suddenly a shadow passes in front of you. Player: Pull out my handgun and fire three times! GM: *Does some die rolling* The shadow moves by too quickly; your bullets only hit the wall at the end of the hallway.
While in an RP you write out a scene, and all which occurs in that scene, an RPG you write your character's actions. The job of building the scene, creating non-player characters, and determining the success of actions, is all done by the GM. It's closer to playing a very flexible game than telling a story.

| That's a lot easier than what i was doing. XP Though i was pretty proud of my writing. c:
So, then do you roll for us or do we roll? Or does it depend on the situation?

| This explains so much.
I am now educated in the way of the RPG. Wayyy easier than RP, that's for sure.

So, then do you roll for us or do we roll? Or does it depend on the situation? If we were playing face to face, then you would roll for your own character; however, due to the logistics of playing over a forum, I'll handle all the die rolls.

*quietly weeps* You can still sign up. We're not at a point in the game where it becomes impossible to add in new people.

| Sorry everyone, but it's starting to look like I won't be able to run this game. I just haven't had the time to recently, and pretty soon I'll be heading back to college (where I definitely won't have the time to run a game). The game never got far, which is a disappointment, as I was kinda looking forward to it. Again, sorry everyone | |
