| Hi! Elastik here, I'm pretty new here but I want to be a part of stuff so I figured I'd just choose a subject I like, such as music.
Well, as the title says. What kind music, or what song or band, brings out the creative part of you? Or maybe you need absolute silence when you want to be creative?
I for one listen to dark songs, like some of Black Sabbath's early stuff or some thrash metal. My favorite is Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath (duh) because it's so dark. I just close my eyes and I see myself at that graveyard from the album cover. Other songs are Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel, Creatures by Crucified Barbara, People Are Strange by The Doors and Cry of the Banshee by Brocas Helm.
So, out of curiosity, what's your choice of music?

| Well first off, hello there and welcome to our forum. Second, I usually listen to 30 Seconds To Mars or Depeche Mode while I'm trying to write. That or whatever happens to pop up on my iTunes at the time. Sometimes there's particular songs that play a theme to what I'm writing, but those vary as well. As for drawing, I go with complete silence. | |

| I usually listen to orchestral/electronic pieces, or anything without lyrics. When people sing, I get distracted, and end up paying more attention to the song than what I was originally trying to do.
Normally I'll just turn on a Pandora & work without paying attention to the specific song playing, but some of my favorite artists would be Two Steps From Hell & The Glitch Mob.

| Welcome to the Slender Nation, Elastik. ^w^ Can I stretch you and will you bounce back if I do? Owo
I don't listen to music when I write - I actually need silence in a secluded little nook and an idea when I write so that I can focus on what I'm trying to say and how I want to say it. But when I draw or am doing any other type of work, I need some sort of noise to keep my brain on track. I have a Youtube playlist for those times; it's full of a lot of Dubstep and loud techno or "glitchy"-sounding music mostly, partially because I actually like it and partially because, for whatever reason, it helps. I listen to rock as well, but usually it's alt, classic, or metal and I usually listen to that when it's on the radio and I'm driving home. I also have some acoustic, classical, indie (or indie-sounding) music, and a little bit of pop I listen to as well, although not as much.

| I'm the same as Hooligan: anything without lyrics, or I'll get distracted. I've also recently begun listening to nature sounds, specifically thunderstorms. | |

| I personally find it odd that you guys want silence. When it's silent I always find something to listen to and end up unable to concentrate on whatever I'm doing. Music keeps my mind focused, mainly because I already know the songs and don't listen for new things in them, as I do with new songs and other sounds. Yeah, Two Steps From Hell is really inspiring at times.. And no, I probably won't bounce back, although I can't be sure since I've never tested.. I came up with the nick 10 years ago or something when I needed a profile name for some game I wanted to play. It grew on me | |

| Noisy stuff. More of an electronica fan myself, something I'm starting to feel utterly alone in when it comes to this forum. A lot of what's on my phone is Dubstep and Bass, but I also like DnB, trap, house, rave, dance, some pop and the Watch the Throne album from Jay-Z and Kanye West. | |

| You're not alone Etreo. I like a lot of that same style of music. I'll listen to anything as long as it's loud and has a good beat to it. It's very energizing. ^w^
I think I got my taste in music from my mom of all people. She likes Industrial and EBM though... I'm really more into Dubstep, Drum and Bass, Glitch, Trance, etc. So for the most part if it a) sounds like someone autotuned Slendistortion or b) is very loud, I listen to it. XD

| It honestly depends on what I'm writing. If I'm writing something along the medieval type, I usually listen to orchestral music, fanfare, lute, panflute, etc.
Basically, I listen to things that follow the theme of my writing. It helps bring out my writing skills fluidly, and sometimes even expands my vocabulary.

| When I was writing OctarineNight I was listening to a lot of Pretty! Odd era Panic at the Disco...as I guess you can probably tell by the regular inserts But most of the time I listen to Dream Theater, Queens of the Stoneage, Them Crooked Vultures or Pink Floyd when I write. It's a weird mix but it normally works for me. | |
