Personally, Super Mario 64 was the biggest game of my childhood, along with the whole Super Mario franchise. Just the sheer adventure behind the game from scaling the Bomb-omb King's tower to smiting Bowser in his own realm.
AND THIS MUSIC. AHH.

I loved Super Mario 64. I actually got all the Power Stars too. xD
Nah, my most memorable game that I will never ever forget is...
(^There's an image) Chrono Trigger.
If you've played the game, you'll remember it. An interesting storyline back in the golden age of Squaresoft, art by Akira Toriyama, mixed in with some of the best 16-bit music of its time, coupled with an easy but challenging battle system and good memories to be had by all.
Also, the Kingdom of Zeal's music:
If you have not played this game yet, I would recommend to push this high up on your list.

I can't really choose one, so I hope you don't mind a list.
If we're talking of childhood games, the most memorable for me would be Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong Country & Pacman - Pacman because my grandmother would always play it till we went to sleep. Like a bedtime story, except with video games. There was also the first three Spyro the Dragon games, which were the first games I actually beat. Resident Evil 1-3, Dino Crisis 1-2 & Parasite Eve 2 were childhood favorites, too. I went through a "obsessed with Pokemon" phase.
If we're talking of teen/adulthood... I dunno. Morrowind was my first real rpg. Dragon Age, Mass Effect, The Walking Dead & The Cat Lady were the first to make me emotional. Condemned: Criminal Origins was the first horror game I beat by myself. Amnesia: The Dark Descent was the first horror game to scare me shitless.

"The Wind Fish in name only, For it is neither."
The Legend of Zelda: Link's awakening (DX)
Far from the first game I played, I believe it's the first game I was able to buy all on my own. And the first game I actively strove for (and achieved!) 100% completion.
It's bright and cheery, sometimes downright quirky, but undercut the whole while by a certain sense of darkness. A feeling that something's not right. Very like Majora's Mask, but slightly less blatant, seeing as there's no giant angry moon overhead.
And the consequences of your actions... There are enough clues throughout the game that you know full well what will happen when you defeat the final boss, but what other choice could you make?
But if you manage to beat the game with out dying, your victory becomes a little bit less pyrrhic. c:
And, of course, the music.

For me, the most memorable game I played as a child was actually Riven: The Sequel To Myst. It secured in me a love of puzzles from a young age, as well as a love of adventures in games and computers in general.
Pokemon Crystal version was also up there. I always chose Cyndaquil. I love Fire-type starters! And nowadays when I replay, I always make sure I get a Gastly (for Haunter, I love Haunter), the Shiny Red Gyrados, Eevee (for Umbreon or Espeon later), and I try to get a Growlithe (for Arcanine later). I recently Nuzlocke-ran that game (look up what Nuzlocke is if you're not sure), and found a few new favorites too - man, what a game. That was my first Pokemon game, and my first glimpse at RPGs...

Donkey Kong 64 was a huge part of my childhood. I played that game more than any other I owned at the time.

There are so many memorable games for me... but my first memorable games were mostly Nintendo 64 games that I'd play a lot at my Grandma's when I was really young, like five years old. Super Mario 64 was one of them, along with the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and GoldenEye. I'm a huge gamer and plan to make my living designing games, so like I said there are a lot of memorable games for me in many different ways, but Nintendo 64 games usually gives me a lot of nostalgia and good times.

Ratchet and Clank. It was the first game I ever played.

Abe's Oddysee for the PC.I never finished it but I enjoyed every bit I played of it,even if it pissed me off sometimes.People may fear the grunt's and brute's chase theme from Amnesia but I still fear even to this day the slog's chase theme.

There are two: OddWorld: Abe's Exoddus. I'm actually replaying it right now. And I hate the fleeches like no other... This music is like horror music to me.
And then MediEvil, just because. <3 This level was always so hard for me.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Never beat it cuz I only played it back when I was a kid, but it got me hooked on video games.

I'll do a top 3.
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. I was with the series from the very beginning, but this was my favourite game during my childhood. Loved the characters, and NEMESIS himself was fricking terrifying as a ten year old.
Also Sonic Adventure DX. I know a lot of people hate the later Sonic games but I thought it was a bold move reimagining so much stuff like they did, and Sonic has had some good hits in his later days.
And lastly Halo: Combat Evolved. massively overrated series i agree, but nothing can beat the system-linked multiplayer we had at my house. Good times. Good times.

Rayman Games for sure!
First of this awesome creature which I will never forget from Rayman 2 who used to give me nightmares
Jano.
Next up rayman 3
Bégoniax.
This witch made me shit my pants every time her crazyness... just wow
Last but not least of my Rayman collection. Reflux
This Knaaren spieces monster whas by far the most interesting creature I have ever met in a game. When i had to fight it in the end and beated it.. It turned into Leptys a giant flying monster
Also next up another game.
Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask
This game was literally the darkest game I have ever played in my childhood but probably one of the best and now looking at it and reading its creepypasta.. meh..
And of course Pokemon Red

I just got The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker for the Gamecube in the mail! I never had the chance to grab it while I was younger and I recently found my GameCube. WOOT! It is awesome! The art style is so unique and the gameplay is smooth... oh I just love it!
