Quick question :P

Hello all,
I just want to ask something. So, why can't we say we think Slender Man is real? Aren't we allowed to stick to our own beliefs? I just want to know why can't say I think he's real. I'm not looking for someone to reply to this saying I'm stupid for thinking he's real(I'm not sure if I think he even is), or that there's no way he is. I'm not asking your reasons on why you don't think he would exist, I just want to know why it's so wrong to say you think he is.

(And before anyone just assumes I believe he's real, I'm not sure what I think, but I don't want people trying to get me to think he isn't real, and I like being able to say what I believe.)

All we're doing is requesting that you don't come onto the forum saying that you just saw him and that he's out to get you. Because you will be rebutted. As you will if you reply to a thread going "Look out that's a sign he's coming for you!" unless it's clear that you meant it in sarcasm. The reason we have this rule is that he is fictional, and we don't want to become some kind of hub for maniacal cultists.

So that's why we have the rule. That said, we can't do anything about your personal beliefs. That's your decision. We just give you concrete evidence to the contrary and see what happens.

So, can I say I believe in him?(Though I'm not fully clear if I believe in his existence or not, though I think it's fun to think so) Like, I don't think I'm ever going to say anything like that 'I just saw him!' crap. But I'd like to say if I think he's real or not.

There's nothing wrong with suspending your disbelief. As you said, it can be fun to believe. That's what ARG's like MarbleHornets and TribeTwelve are for, to give as realistic an experience as possible. You can say you believe in him, we won't persecute you. Just expect the occasional 'You know he's fake right?' from newer members.

A personal question though, how can you be unsure if you believe in something?

And its that I'm not really sure about if I believe in him or not..It's kinda hard to explain lol. Like, it seems highly impossible he exist but as I said I think believing is fun. I think I just 'believe' because I think it would be interesting if he did exist. I don't believe in anyone's Slender Man encounter stories or anything though.

We're all in the same boat here. It is fun to believe, watching videos as reading blogs. But on a day-to-day basis? Nah. Not sure I'd like the connotations of Slendy being real to be honest. Knowing that he could just pop up and disembowel me whenever he felt like it.

Yeah lol, that's true. Believing is fun and writing about him and stuff is, but I highly doubt he's real. I would sort of like him to be though, cause I'm weird lol.

I like your picture Jess. Hellraiser was a great movie, been watching it since I was little. Maybe that's why I'm messed up enough to work here.

Well, MH does have some mild ARG elements, especially with all the puzzle-solving- though it is not a true ARG.

Aside from that, the main reason we have a rule about Slender Man not being real is for the simple fact that occasionally we get people that like to post as if they're being stalked by Slendy RIGHT NOW OH GOD. Having that rule makes it easier to weed out the trolls. It's absolutely okay to believe whatever you want, as long as you don't post as if something is happening to you IRL. Hell, I've had many a night, driving home in the dark, when I could SWEAR I saw a tree start walking... <.<;
