| Is there such thing as sympathetically pure evil? Because I'd totally like that. And trolling is much easier to pull off than murder.
However, a big tip for villain characters: they're still characters. They've got good points, bad points, quirks, pet peeves, what have you. So while having a ridiculously evil guy is awesome, there should be some sort of personality beyond that.
(I'm not implying your character's bad, btw. I read your blog like once and can't really remember it. So these comments have nothing to do with that. This is just general helpfully advice from me.)
And I firmly believe that proxies can be done well. They're just a tad tricky to pull off.

| Understood. Though not remembering anything about my blog is NOT a good sign. Maybe I should have Slendy sing a song to make it more memorable. Or perhaps I could learn to write. That might help. | |

| I don't think she meant it as it wasn't memorable, I'd chock it up to the sheer amount of blags out there. | |

| I was going to chock it up to my bad memory (I can't remember half of Seeking Truth, and that's my favorite blog ever) but the sheer amount of blogs probably helped.
On a slightly more personal round of advice, you need to stop sweating it. I get being really involved with your work, and a bit of the thinking it sucks that comes with it. But ultimately, worrying you're doing a bad job doesn't help that much. If you feel you can do something a bit better, do it. If not, don't worry about it.

| Hm... I don't know if I should wait longer, or if could have him be aware that something is wrong. So I'm going to ask, has enough time passed for him to be aware of even the tiniest thing? Oh, and Mephiles. Good luck with your blog. | |

| we can't really tell you the right way to do anything, HS, as well as Meph. I mean, this is your story, however I can see, even without reading your blog that you're very self critical and worried we're going to say your blog sucks. I have this to say Fuck us. Don't write with US in mind, sheesh. Write because you want to tell a story. All I can say for your last question is this. Do you feel you've fleshed out your character enough that we could see a noticable difference when things start to change with him due to his proximity to Slendy? Establish your character before anything else. The real question is HOW to have things go wrong, I think. I mean a lot of people use the 'i watched Marble Hornets' excuse. What's your current idea? I think that brainstorming here is a pretty good idea if someone needs a hand, ask for that as opposed to a judging critique. Try to get your answers in a positive light You can do it, man! | |

| ...No, no I have not. I have not established my character enough yet. I will admit, I have a few ideas on where to take this (Yep, still not sure on the overall plot. I'm more of a 'planning out ahead but can't decide on crucial plot elements' kind of "writer") that might make Slendy being near him not be the first thing he notices. As for my ideas...Well some of them are kind of obvious if you look for "hidden" words in my posts. And twice now blog posts have appeared that weren't from him. Though he thinks nothing of it, he thinks it's just a prank by a friend and removed them. My current plan is for 'Mr. Will accidentally reveal name as he gets more unstable' to already be at the center of everything from the beginning and not know it...Like I said, this will make sense to someone who notices the "hidded" (quotes because they are not hidden very well) words. It's not that I'm afraid of people saying my blog sucks, hell I think it does as it is my first. It's that I am inexperienced in this kind of thing. I'm learning as I go along, and I'll occasionally need help and ask questions. Thanks for the advice, it has made me think on a few things. And will hopefully help me improve. | |

| HS, as I've said several times before. I thought my blog sucks too. Really most of us do. Just always work at trying to be a little better at it every time, it'll find its voice. | |

| I copped out. I honestly couldn't handle it. I'm no good at this sort of thing. So I just wrote an apology, that I was insane, and spelled out Slender Man if you read using the first letter on the left, going down. | |

| It looks kinda like you're past the advice stage now, but I decided to put in my two cents anyway. Not like it matters, my blog is a baby to to slenderverse and I haven't even really gotten my story off the ground yet.
But, anywho. The biggest problem I've had with Keep to the Trails is pacing myself. Pacing is an issue with some blogs. Don't drag it out but don't jump right in with it.
But, as I've said, my opinion doesn't really mean anything, so don't take it too seriously.

| Hey guys I've been wanting to start work on a Slenderblog for a while now, but I've still yet to begin it. What I wanted to know was what you guys might recommend to me that might make the blog more enjoyable rather than a bombshell of a piece. Any tips or help of any kind is appreciated . | |

| Correct spelling and grammar, or at least comprehensible spelling and grammar, is a must.
Get a good idea of who your characters are. You should know them as though they were real people. Make lists of their favourite bands, or the clothes they own. Things like that create a character who feels like a person.
Show, don't tell.
Make it scary. Many would argue that the mythos is now more of an action-fantasy affair. I would argue that these people are morons.
In my opinion, plot from beginning to end before you start. Nothing says "well-plotted" like satisfying foreshadowing.

| I like that list idea, I'll find a way to use it. Thanks Alder! Hoping to get a general layout of how I want the story to go soon and before I head back to college so I can write it there. We'll see how well that goes xD | |

| don't make the main character your author avatar
don't get attached to the main char or major NPCs
do remember the fear that is the heart of the mythos
don't just kill people without repercussions
no proxy hordes, they work best in small groups
don't assume you're the most important thing out there ie: Slendy does not want to make a deal with you
Enjoy yourself
if you don't want to be part of a community, dont post on others blogs too much, and take off commenting on yours.
and don't over advertise.
have a loose plot at least to work with.
that's a good start! | |

| Don't worry about it, it was kind of deep in the Slender Blogs sub forum. Since threads like this have been made so much I think I'm going to mix this one with the others and make it sticky so new members can easily find it. | |

| I'm still in the writing process so I figure this is a good question to pose now. Some people seem to be suggesting other paranormal figures for slenderblogs. But other than the Rake, I don't know which ones are also associated with Mr. Slim, and the Rake's still a vague topic for me, I haven't researched him much yet. So what other creatures would you guys recommend go well with Slender Man? | |

| I was curious if anyone could critique my blog, I don't have much yet, and the slendy stuff hasn't really happened yet besides a dream the main character has, but just as far as writing, format, and overall feel goes, it would be nice to have some feedback As far as other slenderblogs go, from my personal experience on other writing sites goes, appeasing people tends to end badly. If you betray your own storyline to give people what they want, it can feel really disjointed and unrealistic in some cases. Trust me, I've fallen prey to the appeasement bug :c | |

| As a writer, I have an interest in maybe making a Slender Man blog of my own some time in the future. Other than generally watching/reading/researching the other vlogs and blogs out there to see what has been done, is there anything you think HASN'T been done but you think would be a decent idea if done properly?
For example (off the top of my head here): Has anybody tried using a character that is a gang member? I can't think of any reason why they would have a blog that isn't a contrived excuse to move the story along, but it's a character idea that I suspect hasn't been explored. But would anybody even want to attempt? Would anybody else even be interested in reading a Slender Man blog with that kind of narrator, beyond curiosity's sake?
It's stuff like that (ideas for characters and other such) that I'm interested in knowing in case I give more serious thought to the idea of writing my own blog.
