I don't trust that girl.
BTW Did anyone else notice the sound of her coughing from her room when Jay was waiting for her to open the door?

| Holy fuck, I can't believe they've come out with a new one so quickly. I don't have much to say about this one other than I agree that Jessica is a bit of a shady character and that the effects on the camera were subtle and pretty cool. Does anyone have any deeper insights? | |

| My insights are as follows:
1) Coughing. Sounds like it's Jess herself. Also, compared to everyone else in the series to date, Jess really can't act, which is beginning to wear thin on me. 2)Obvious exposition is obvious. "The camera seemed to distort when Jessica is around" is just screaming "hey guise look at her she turned". 3) Speaking of which, my $20 is on Jess being turned or in the process of becoming such. It's not even subtle. She is coughing, acting suspicious and distorting the camera.
I know, I'm mostly complaining here, which is odd for MH, but this is one of my all time least favorite entries. It's awkward, forced and boring, or is that just me? Does anyone else not like this one so much?

| To be honest, somewhat. I'm kind of worried this whole Jessica-plot is going to turn out screwy for some reason. | |

| Satyr, need I remind you about Amy's acting in 26?
"There was a tape already in it but when I tried to watch it it was... messed up or something, I dunno."
*that* was the worst acting I've seen in Marble Hornets.
Anyways, I didn't mind the entry. I didn't hear the coughing though either, so maybe I'll have to watch it again. What I'm wondering is what she means by she was "kicked out".

| I agree she was great at screaming. Dialouge, not so much. She sounded like she was trying too hard to sound casual to me. | |

| I noticed the coughing too, probably due to slendy-sickness. She apparently ran away from home/life, so the big guy might be the cause of that. What J might be hearing is her own paranoid attempts at trying not to get gutted by Slendy in the middle of the night, or night terrors, or something like that.
I haven't been a huge fan of the second part of MH so far, I've found it kinda lackluster after the huge build-up at the end of part 1. This entry was kinda the epitome of that, since nothing new was really established, except some very vague background info on Jessica. Hopefully they are actually going somewhere with this...
And I think that all of you overlooked the most serious issue here: J really needs to work on his game. Jessica was TOTALLY into it, and J blew it by being a paranoid creep...

Unfortunately, they seem to have issues finding female actors that are near believable. I don't know how much is the actress and how much is the writing. She seems to be the archetypal nosy female that wants J to answer all her burning questions but won't give him any. Something that a male with a very limited female perspective would write. Like the fact that she asks him "Why are you here so long?" and "What are you doing here?" yet upon him asking her, she pulls back with the that is a sensitive subject card. I might have to also add the third option and that is my general dislike toward female characters in anything. Women tend to be boring. It is a shame but a fact. I've never felt attached to many female characters from movies/TV shows/video games/etc. I don't suspect that I'll grow cozy with her and the quicker she is gone, the better. Right now, she is serving the purpose of "J isn't robotic. Look, he is talking to another human being that isn't Tim." I still want to know what happened to looking for Alex?

Or at least, most men (and a rather embarrassing amount of women) have no idea how to write a convincing and interesting female character. Some writers seem to think that 'possessing a vagina' is a personality trait. No further development needed. It's probably a little early to accuse them of doing this to Jessica's character, since she's only had a couple of minutes on screen, but it looks like they're heading down the 'token girl' route.

| Here's my $20 on the situation. Jessica has been turned, the noises are either her being something akin to Masky or she has a stupidly ramped up ability to move around in her sleep. I highly doubt the second.
Jay should totally sneak into her room someday when she's not there and get a look around inside. As for the area from 29-DON'T DO IT, SLENDY IS IN ALL PROBABILITY STILL THERE.
And now I get to go visit family upstate, WHHOOOOO! |

I would prioritize figuring out where I am, how I got there and how I lost the last seven months first. Only after figuring all that out would I really think of Alex. Re: girls. Jess is poorly acted. The writing indicates a girl with very little personality, which, lets face it, happens pretty often in the real world too. It's not a gender issue, it's a societal one. Girls grow up being taught that the number one thing they need to be is pretty, followed by sexually proficient, mothering and having low expectations from life. You'll notice how intelligence and personality are nowhere on that list. Those traits fall somewhere behind makeup choice and matching your shoes to your purse. When a girl fails to break out of that mold before becoming fully brainwashed, we get a Jessica. To make sure, I'm not coming across as a sexist here, the same does apply to guys. They grow up learning to be labor servants, good at sports, and to avoid thinking with anything other than their penises whenever possible. But for some reason, the stereotypes on girls still have a stronger hold, both in our society and our fiction. Tl;dr = gender roles are bad.

That's what I meant. I may have worded it confusingly, though...

| CHECK HER SIDEBURNS. CHECK HER DAMN SIDEBURNS!
Nothing too groundbreaking in this entry, just raising more questions which we can only hope to have answered. They could go a few different routes with this Jessica character. Obviously, she's had some sort of contact or relation with Slenderman. She may not even be aware of it yet. I think it is suspicious that she had to leave home, possibly for the same reasons as Jay. Perhaps she's suffering from memory loss, waking up in a random hotel room as well? Maybe good ol' Slendy is herding his prey. I am excited about Jay revisiting the scene from Entry 29, while at the same time cursing his naivety. Everyone knows that if he does find that location, the result will not be good for him.
Still stoked on this series. Hopefully they keep this pace up, I remember Troy saying that he wanted to eliminate the long gaps they suffered in season 1.

But imagine you woke up in a hotel with no memory of what happened over the past seven months, wouldn't you make that your priority? I certainly would. I'm pretty sure that this second part for MH is just a leftover script from The Hangover. J wakes up with no memory, and tries to figure out what the hell happened. By retracing his steps, he'll hopefully find something that leads him to his lost friend Doug Alex, so that he can get home in time for his wedding or whatever. Let's just hope that the series doesn't end with Mike Tyson punching out Slendy (although that would be hilarious). I wouldn't write off Jess's "meh" performance as a result of man's poor knowledge of the female mind (although really, can you blame us?). None of the guys in the series had brilliant, award-winning dialogue. I think her acting and lines are pretty consistent with the par set by the other actors/actresses. I just hope that her role actually has some significance to the overall plot, given the amount of screen time they've given her.

| Considering it all, I'm hoping that she's a major link in Jay's remembering. I'm kind of hoping that they make her a sort of 'sidekick' for Jay. At least they won't be alone when Slendy finally comes for them... | |

| I have to say, this is definitely a good set up for the series. Obviously, there has been only one definitive sighting of Slenderman, however, I believe that all this build up will amount to something glorious in the end. As for Jessica, I still stick by my theory that she's goingmasky on us, and jay will witness it firsthand. It will give him some kind of idea what he's dealing with and what it can do to people. | |

Tl;dr = gender roles are bad. I DISLIKE GENDER ROLES AS WELL. *coughs* Oh, speaking of coughing, that was the first thing I noticed. The distortion was almost too subtle - it's a good thing Jay pointed it out, or I would certainly have missed it. I didn't see it until I watched it the second time. :/ I dunno how prevalent this Jessica plot is going to be, but I'm disappointed that it's taking away so much from Jay. I want to hear what his trip to that place in the laptop video is like, though. Should be suitably (heh, see what I did there?) creepy. - The Doctor wrote:
